November 11, 201411 yr I'm with Jim Schue...working for just three of my teen years in retail hell ruined much of all Christmas music for me for a long time. I've probably only genuinely started enjoying Christmas music again in the last 3 or 4 years. Anyway, I could go off on a lot of tangents about the different types of Christmas music that I like listening to. Sometimes I enjoy the religious side of things, other times the old English carols, sometimes I'm into the secular songs a little more, and other times there's nothing better than listening to a 80 or 90 year old recording of any Christmas music on a 78 record playing on my wind-up phonograph. Anywho...I think if I had to pick, I'd say: #1) (Although Jim is right...any well done version is a good version.) #2) (It's not Christmas if you don't hear a big boisterous version of this as the processional hymn at mass. Gotta have the full choir, the organ and everything.) T3) (Gotta go with the original 1942 version from "Holiday Inn".) T3) (The Felvet Fog recorded the best version of this on for the "Home Alone" soundtrack.) T3) The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole (The later version he recorded with an orchestra backing him...although the is very good too.)
