November 3, 201411 yr I've got nothin'...seriously...anything I even could have thought of would be ridiculous to post after all the above. :lol2:
November 3, 201411 yr My brother has a certificate of an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Benedict XVI. I think that's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
November 3, 201411 yr Author My brother has a certificate of an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Benedict XVI. I think that's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. My mom has a hand-written letter from Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI prior to his election to the papacy). ...it's pretty awesome, in my opinion, as is your brother's certificate.

That is really cool. Anything that ties with the Pope is awesome. I guess my other coolest item is my high school state championship ring. Don't know why I didn't think of that first

After a good bit of thought, I might say, personally, that it's an oak Morris Chair that I hand built. I dunno. It's a tough question to answer. I kind of agree with Clyde, as well...my letterman jacket from Cov Cath is a pretty prized possession, as is my '97 AAA football state championship ring.
November 3, 201411 yr Hummm...well...I can't come up with a dang thing off the top of my head. Might be the first trophy I ever won...the sportsmanship trophy for the Boys Club 5/6 grade football league. We didn't win a game, as a matter of fact I don't think any of them were even very close. Not really sure why I won it, but I have always surmised that...one, I was a good kid and just played hard and never complained...and two, I was also one of the better players in the league on a very bad team and it would be nice to recognize someone for something on that team. Regardless of what the reasoning was, it was my first trophy and it's always held a special place in my heart.

November 3, 201411 yr I've got lots of cool stuff.....errr.....really! I'll be back later too. Just thinking about it...I needed a knife to open a box yesterday, so I opened a drawer in my tool chest and pulled out my old Cub Scout knife. I got it 53 years ago. It got confiscated by my Mom shortly after I got it as Louis Vescovo (one of the neighborhood kids) poked me, accidently, with it while we were cutting down a very large tree (maybe a Redwood) with it. I got it back at some point, apparently. It worked just fine yesterday.
November 3, 201411 yr 20 Reds bobble heads most recently Billy Hamilton. I add a few year and plan to pass them down to a grandson, then again my daughter is only 18 months so, I might have around 50 by that time. Might have some value.
November 3, 201411 yr You know what...I DO have something that qualifies! Most of you know Birdsfan and I were great, great friends. Way back in the day, he found out "You've Got Mail" is my favorite movie of all time. I have no idea where he got it, but one year he sent me one of the Shop Around The Corner bags used in the movie, signed by Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Greg Kinnear and Parker Posey. I have it in a shadow box hanging in my office. The other thing I have is a football signed to me by Deion Branch the year he won Superbowl MVP. And again, Birdsfan hooked me up. When he found out I had gotten the football, he sent me a Patriots case to display it in. It's in my office at work, which gets lots of mean stares as I'm in Colts territory there. And I have a photo of myself with the President of Latvia from when she stayed @ The Brown for Derby one year, along with the medallion of the Secret Service office that worked that detail. And I have a personally signed copy of One Tough Cop: The Bo Dietl Story. And I have an amazing crocheted silk scarf that I was given by Elaine Chao. Nothing as cool as an Ironman metal, but still cool to me.
November 3, 201411 yr Some other things I think are pretty cool: 2001 State Dual Championship and Class A State Championship ring I have three bottles of Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (2012 Thomas H Handy, 2014 George T Stagg, 2014 Sazerac 18 year old) In a similar vein I have medals for the 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2010 Bourbon Chase Relays. (going to make a '5 years of the Chase' shadow box soon). The unfortunate thing is I didn't run it during the inaugural year. Either way I doubt there are many people who have ran it five straight. I only know of two others.
November 3, 201411 yr Here's one. My father-in-laws' "crossing the equator certificate" from WWII, going to Gilbert Islands in November 1943. Looks just like this one.
