What teams are the Pre-season favorites to win the 2006 4A Football Title

Featured Replies

I agree Gus!!

Pick and chose

offer scholarships

sounds like college

Male an Manuel get their pick in Jeff Co

What if Eastern and Fern Creek could keep all their feeder kids!!!

1....Offer ACADEMIC scholarships

2....The atmosphere is a lot like college, and we strive for that and are proud of it.

3.....The schools that do the picking and choosing do not include Trinity. Trinity's students choose Trinity.

4....Manual is selective...based solely upon academics.

5....The question isn't what if Eastern and Fern Creek could keep their feeder kids, but why can't they?

I would not overlook PRP this year. This is their second year with a dynamic young coach and they return a lot. Last year they almost beat X.

X and T should be loaded again. Picking a favorite between these rivals is akin to deciding between drowning in the Atlantic or Pacific. How about the Lexington area? Also, anything back at John Hardin and Warren County? Has Henderson County moved back into the pack or are they still among the cream? Who are the powers outside of Jefferson County? Will the west be overall stronger than the east again this year?

  Atherton High School is always complaining that Eastern is stealing their neighborhood kids.

psst. don't tell Sexton that, he has trouble with the truth.

That's MR. Sexton. Show the proper respect;)

Ask anyone who works there.

This thread feels like the movie Groundhog day. . . :creepy:

The brutal truth is that St. X or Trinity will win at least the next 4 state finals. This will be in AAAA or the new AAAAAA. With their upgrades in facilities that cannot and will not have any chance of being duplicated at a public school, their head football coaches heavy involvement in "admissions" (legal term for recruiting), and the major differences in coaching staff positions. I don't see anyone outside of Male or maybe a Manual, who might even give them a run. There will be an occasional scare (i.e. John Hardin), but Coach Brown himself said that teams like that at MOST schools come around every 10 to 15 years.

x and t, with the occassional chance of male. Those private schools just work so much harder.

While its true that Coach Glaser is actually the director of admissions at X, Coach Beatty does not have any involvement in admissions at Trinity. If you are insinuating that either coach "recruit"s athletes I suggest that you make your claim to the KHSAA. I think you are selling quite a few programs short by awarding Trinity and X the next four titles. Over the past several years both teams have been played down to wire by several teams on their way to titles. I would think that would suggest that a number of teams are on the verge of winning it all, not the hopeless situation you suggest. JMO.

FYI, careful with the "R" word.

Thanks.

I didn't call it hopeless. It is a brutal truth that I believe will happen and the schools currently in AAAA and the new AAAAAA have to come to terms with. Between the two schools they have won that last 5 AAAA titles and have benefited greatly from the momentum. IMO, they both now have situations that I don't see anyone being able to compete with. Note, I did say that there will be an occasional scare.

I did fail to reply to the original thread. With what X returns, they would have to be the pre-season favorite.

The truth is that I don't see another team ready to step up and take it right now beyond the big 3 (Trinity, St X or Male). Scott County will be very solid, but don't think they are on that level just yet.

I don't know about the next four state finals, but X and T will be contenders for the considerable future. We differ on the reasons. You posit that "their upgrades in facilities that cannot and will not have any chance of being duplicated at a public school" is a factor. X was a contender for years without a stadium, and are ranked near the top this upcoming year while still a tenant of Manual. Thus, its not the facilities. Also, public schools can easily match or exceed the facilities at X or T. As I have posted previously, just start with the base that the taxpayer has already given you- classrooms, labs, computers, parking facilities, football stadium, basketball arena, fully paid tuition, etc. Then, simply add in a fraction of your personal assets. Voila! You have a facility that exceeds the one to be built at X, or the one at T.

I do not understand your reference to the major differences in coaching staff positions. Please elaborate.

I think one of the major factors in the success of X and T in football (and X in all sports - a recent CJ article pointed out that X had 30+ state titles in about a 10 year period, and I think the next scool in the state had about 8)

is enrollment. X and T have 1400+ boys, dwafting the number of boys at any other school. More boys equals more athletes.

Facts.

Per St. X's website. They have 10 paid Varisty coaches and 8 paid Freshmen coaches. (Trinity's site did not have coaches listed or pictured)

JCPS pays 4 Varsity coaches. (Head Coach and ONLY 3 Asst's) And 2 Freshmen coaches.

I don't claim to be a math guy, but those don't seem to be anywhere close to equal.

There were more paid stipends than that at Fern Creek when I coached there. The school can pay more, JC provides some and the principal can pay some. The stipends are so low I do not want to hear they cannot afford it.

Scott County will have a very solid team coming back and could make it to the finals. They have to be the favorite out of Region 4 going in. But don't be surprised if there are some very tough battles (surprises?) in the Regional Playoff rounds.

That proves another point, "so low." The fact is That a JCPS school can have up to 10 paid coachs. That is it. 6 are paid by JCPS and 4 can be paid by the school. And trust me the stipends are low very low. Still is the far cry from 18 paid coachs.

A 2006 4A favorites thread = T and X have advantages in facilities, numbers..... A new year, same stuff, and no end in sight. Who are T and X out state comp this year?
