Does the school system they are part of allow them to play private schools? Belfry's coach may very well like to play Trinity but those above him may tie his hands behind his back. I don't ask this in an accusatory manner, I really don't know what the situation is like for Belfry.

 

 

Don't think that is an issue with Belfry. The biggest issue is travel and open dates matching up.

Be awesome if Lakewood St Ed, Cleveland St Ignatius or Mentor could fill that date.

All Ohio teams.

 

I agree those would be interesting but I often wish Trinity could play other top teams in KY regardless of what class they are in.

According to a Trinity staffer, the Shamrocks have one varsity football open date remaining for 2015-16. The Rocks have four district games, 2 JCPS non-district opponents, 1 private local school, and two out of state opponents apparently lined up for the next two seasons. I had heard this but didn't know if it was actually true. Assuming so, due to Trinity offering to pic up the tab for travel and still turned down, I doubt Trinity would ask again. unless something has changed.

Ironically enough just last week Trinity was mentioned as a possibility with Belfry. I do not know if any official talk has been made, but I know for sure that Coach Haywood is and has been intrigued about a possible match up with the Rocks. I think Trinity would have a definite advantage, but it certainly would help Belfry and I think the Pirates can line up and play hard and learn a lot and not just be a pushover. Stay tuned for any more developments.

Not an issue. Belfry's coach has free reign to schedule and public/private just isn't an issue. Like Pep said, travel would be a concern but consider the last two seasons Belfry had to settle for a game against a team in Knoxville, one in Gallipolis, OH and they agreed to travel to Southwestern two years in a row just to fill the schedule.

 

Playing T would be a huge test for the Pirates, but it would be well received among the Pirate faithful and they do travel well.

Man. Someone in Lexington should try to broker a deal between T and Belfry. That would be a nice gate, and a little bit easier on traveling...

Would love to see a home and home series with McCracken County. JV and Frosh have been playing and while those games have been lopsided, varsity could be interesting. I don't think McCracken is quite there yet, but they are getting closer. This years playoffs will be a true test, somewhat of an indicator of just how far they have come and how far they are away from competing on a much bigger stage.
