In fact I believe they have a winning record against them. Will need to check this out. I know there is a lot of respect between schools, coaches, and teams; only issue might be trying to work in the date.

We don't know. Have your AD call T's AD. Will shall see if they can come to an agreement. Trinity will not have a issue of traveling. They travel just about everywhere to play. See what kind of stipulation JC place.

People... it is Trinity. What do they benefit from playing a Belfry, JC, McCracken County etc. Trinity is thought of on the National level like several schools in Ohio. The issue I have here is that a lot of people are content with playing only Ky schools (exceptions Trinity, Lou. StX ).

Did anyone look at the playoff picture in all 6 classes. WOW. The KHSAA playoffs are a joke. I lost count of the 0-10, 1-9, 2-8 teams that make the playoffs. As a reference, Ky has 220plus teams in 6 classes; Ohio has over 700 teams in 7 classes. Simply put, Kentucky should have no more than 4classes period. Too watered down......BUT it is a money maker for the KHSAA. Hard to justify the 70-0, 60-0 etc first round debacles played as so-called first round games. Only Top 2 from each district should qualify. This four qualifing is a joke. Most districts have minimum of 4 teams, so guess what....they all go (even the 0-10, 1-9 etc.). I would believe Trinity thinks BIG TIME....that's why they should step outside the Bluegrass if they need a game. Think big, not small. Just an opinion.

Can't disagree with much of your post, prepsbill65, but take note: Whatever the reasoning behind the number of teams making the playoffs are, it isn't $$ for the KHSAA because they don't benefit from it financially. The KHSAA doesn't get any money from the playoff games except the state championship games. The gate from the first 4 rounds are split between the participants, not the KHSAA.

This is much discussed topic over the years but 6 classes for 220 teams is absolutely insane. Teams that win 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 games in a season should not be in the playoffs. Before anyone goes crazy on me, I know it will not change any time soon. It is crazy though.

Maybe the Bombers will reconsider their recent stance. They choose not to renew the series for the past two seasons. Currently, the Jesuit power would rather take their chances with a large Indy public school or a small Indy Catholic school.

Not an issue. Belfry's coach has free reign to schedule and public/private just isn't an issue. Like Pep said, travel would be a concern but consider the last two seasons Belfry had to settle for a game against a team in Knoxville, one in Gallipolis, OH and they agreed to travel to Southwestern two years in a row just to fill the schedule.

 

Playing T would be a huge test for the Pirates, but it would be well received among the Pirate faithful and they do travel well.

The two have been known to play basketball a time or two in recent years.

Watusi...thank you for that information as I did not know that was the way they did that for the first four rounds. I saw a first round ClassAA playoff game last year where one team was 1-9 coming in, and there were no more than 300 people there. What $$$ are they splitting. With travel and all, how could the road team make any $$$. Ohio for example, all games after first round, are at neutral sites. Highest seeded teams get first round ONLY home games. Crazy in KY at a team could actually host 3 or 4 games before the State Finals in Bowling Green. To me, that makes no sense either. So the KHSAA only make money for the state championship games. I would imagine, that outside of the 6A championship, there are probably no more than 10,000 at any of the 1A - 5A Championship games? I shake my head. Thanks again for the information.

Large public school in Indy. You bet, #2 in Indiana (bigger enrollment than any school in Ohio or Kentucky. Warren Central is an excellent team. So for the next step down in class in Indiana, yes StX plays Cathedral Prep, a multi-time state champ. In fact, either Trinity or Lou. Stx played them recently as well. FYI, StX played teams from 5 different states (IL, IN, TN, OH, KY) this year. Like I said earlier, I would likethen to start the series again. They have played 4 times since '09.. St X winning in '09 (43-13), StX winning in '10 (17-10), Trinity winning in '11 (17-7) and Trinity winning in '12 (14-13). I believe they played 3-4 time before that but cannot find results. Bottom line: two outstanding programs; they need to start playing again.
