Walton is ahead based off of having more wins IMO.

 

Only team WV has played with a pulse is Newport and they lost that one. Newport's losses were to Williamsburg, NCC and Mason Co.. At least they've played some teams with a pulse and have played competiteively..

I only see Caldwell County bias.

 

CAL is undefeated and defeated the defending state champ and currently undefeated DeSales. Shut them out. CAL has given up 48 points total all season long. They are a deserving #1.

 

Caldwell County is undefeated as well. They have played one team that has a record over .500 in Murray and they are 5-3. Murray's best win is over a Ballard Memorial team that is 0-2 against teams with a winning record. Ironically those losses are to Murray and Caldwell County and they were manhandled by both teams.

 

DeSales is 7-1 and their only loss is to CAL. Their defense has given up 75 points and looks to have the second best defnese in 2A. They have defeated 7-1 Holy Cross(Louisville) who is currently #9 in 1A, Grayson County who is 7-1 and arguably should be ranked in 5A, 5-3 Warren Central who is ranked #3 in 5A and Bardstown who is 6-2 and ranked #5 in 2A.

 

 

I need a better reason other than Caldwell County is undefeated to rank them higher than CAL and DeSales.

Gotta love the teams that play up. Murray playing 4A this week. Cal already blew out a 6A, beat a tough 4A and now facing #1 6A Male...All 2A fans should be rooting for Murray and Cal to win their next two games!

Not in my mind. I watched that Newport game twice. NewCath should have won that game by 3 TDs, but they made the same mistakes defensively that they keep making. Newport is much better than in the past couple of seasons, but this isn't exactly the team with Nick Rouse at QB, or Charlie.

You can only play who is on your schedule. Everyone though that Holmes and Grant would be better than they are considering that they are 4A schools. I would love to see Walton beef up the schedule when the new contracts come back around.

Not nocking Newport as they have a good team. Should be a great game between them and Lloyd.

If speed was the only pre req, Bardstown would have a few more titles. Newport doesn't have the line to beat anyone ranked above them. The QB can only do so much making plays out of nothing. The RB is good when he goes North and South but teams will get penetration at the line and make him bounce wide. He has good speed with his size but not enough to hurt a de Sales on runs like that.

I agree with you that Walton needs to beef up the schedule a little. Replace the 1A schools with larger schools and that will work for them for the next couple years. They have the program well established and are ready to take the next step up IMO.

Owensboro Catholic is very good and they can score a ton of points quickly. The question remains can they stop Caldwell, DeSales or CAL, then Murray also pops into the picture in the West. It's not an easy road, but Owensboro Catholic will put up a good fight vs. anyone
