I only see Caldwell County bias.

 

CAL is undefeated and defeated the defending state champ and currently undefeated DeSales. Shut them out. CAL has given up 48 points total all season long. They are a deserving #1.

 

Caldwell County is undefeated as well. They have played one team that has a record over .500 in Murray and they are 5-3. Murray's best win is over a Ballard Memorial team that is 0-2 against teams with a winning record. Ironically those losses are to Murray and Caldwell County and they were manhandled by both teams.

 

DeSales is 7-1 and their only loss is to CAL. Their defense has given up 75 points and looks to have the second best defnese in 2A. They have defeated 7-1 Holy Cross(Louisville) who is currently #9 in 1A, Grayson County who is 7-1 and arguably should be ranked in 5A, 5-3 Warren Central who is ranked #3 in 5A and Bardstown who is 6-2 and ranked #5 in 2A.

 

 

I need a better reason other than Caldwell County is undefeated to rank them higher than CAL and DeSales.

I believe if you will look at post #7 that I didn't rank Caldwell ahead of CAL. They do not deserve it. CAL shut out DeSales who was ranked #1, has played a tougher schedule, and by the eye test is at least a marginal favorite to win heads up with Caldwell. Caldwell has proved nothing to this point, and has an uphill battle to hush the crowd. My problem with the ranking falls lower than the top 4. Not enough credit given to Murray and way to much to suspect teams in the west with nothing on their resume.

I don't think anyone can make a case for #1 outside of CAL. They earned it after their victory over Desales. It may go like last year however, as CAL also beat Desales in the regular season, but lost in the playoffs. Want to show you deserve #1 Caldwell? Defeat Desales or CAL. Simple as that. The CAL/Male game shouldn't have to tell us much anyway either. Male, arguably #1 in 6A vs. a 2A school? No way you can dethrone CAL for a match up like that. I'd like to see CAL keep it close with Male as they did last year though.

To add a little more debate to this thread, a buddy of mine who is well respected around the state when it comes to his football coverage gave me the following top 5 in 2A:

 

1. Caldwell Co

2. CAL

3. Owensboro Catholic

4. DeSales

5. Newcath

I don't see them at #5 yet.

The west is so loaded. How good is Owensboro Catholic? Their schedule leaves much to be desired but they seem to put up points at a disillusioned pace.

To add a little more debate to this thread, a buddy of mine who is well respected around the state when it comes to his football coverage gave me the following top 5 in 2A:

 

1. Caldwell Co

2. CAL

3. Owensboro Catholic

4. DeSales

5. Newcath

 

I sure would like to know how he came up with that list. NCC has more work to do to be considered better than the teams ahead of them in the rankings. I think Bardstown, Prestonsburg and Danville all are ahead of NCC and there shouldn't be much debate on that. Not sure what to expect out of Owensboro Catholic. Hopes have been high the last three years, only they've lost to Murray each time in the playoffs, twice at home. I think a lot of people are in a "wait and see" mode with the Aces.

I like your ranking better than the 10 guru posted. I think NCC should be in the 4 spot. Although the other teams have winning records they still haven't played NCC's schedule. I also think NCC is starting to hit their stride with putting personnel in the right spots. I guess will see if I'm right after the Beechwood game next week. Currently, some have Beechwood as a top 4 in NKY so if NCC comes out of that with a win then I think a 3 or 4 would be justified within the state rankings.

Is it possible that says more about Newport than it does NCC. I still wonder why it's a given that Walton is ahead of Newport.

Walton is ahead based off of having more wins IMO.

No respect for Prestonsburg.. Only loss is a 1 point loss to Pikeville, IMO, they should be at #4 or 5.. Murray should be #5 or 6.. They have 3 losses, but were competitive in all 3 vs Mayfield, Caldwell and Graves Co.. IMO:
