CAL has one of the top players in the state at DE and TE in Jake Paulson. SK will get to know him pretty well.

I would not put too much into the SK game for CAL. They are missing two of their top players in this game and the game doesn't mean anything to them in the long run

CAL has two key returning starters potentially out for this game is the word. If those two were playing, this would be a very tight game. Interesting to see how Freshman QB performs, as he was forced into the role earlier than expected

Cody Morton- (6 interceptions)

Based on the frigid forecast, this one could provide some bone jarring hits and come down to a few key plays in the fourth. Don't expect either team to hold back...17-14 Male in a close one. Hoping neither team sustains injuries going into playoffs. Bundle up moms!

I do not disagree. I played HS ball years ago in Eastern Ky and I totally understand the mindset.

Agree. The only true gauge on how rankings should really work.....how did the team perform against other top ranked teams and/or how did they perform against larger schools, etc. The other quality that is being lost in comparisons - and there is not an easy way to measure - were top players out for injury or some other reason. There are too many intangibles in HS football to worry about anything except who comes out of top on Dec. 5th. Anything other is semantics. That said, it's always fun for us has-beens to talk it up on BlueGrassPreps!

Great performance by CAL from the play calling to a spectacular defensive performance. #JakePaulson and #CodyMorton. Offense looked solid against a very good Desales D- line. Should be epic battle when they meet again in a month or so....Also, should be an interesting matchup of #1 vs #1 if Male wins this week. Playing on Halloween...BOOyah!

It looks like cal could be the 2a team to beat! Not sure if their QB can get it done, defense looks very solid!

FYI- this kid is playing for Christian Academy. St X wishes he were there... 4 interceptions at safety in one game last week and heard he has 6 on the year and 10 tackles a game
