Congratulations to Dixie. They played well on both sides of the ball and dominated SK on both sides. I'm amazed this SK defense didn't show more pride and take the game to Moore, as everyone knew he would run the option all game. Some of it may be on the staff for sitting in the 3/5 instead of moving extra bodies to the line.

 

Dixie was clearly the better team. No doubt about it.

 

You can run a 3-5 if you are able to hold at the point of contact on doubles and get off single blocks. IMO, a lot of kids have a tough time getting off blocks after getting scraped on. Look at the Steelers, Ravens, any real good 3 man front. Big bodies whose stats are not overwhelming but are tough to move and linebackers never get touched. When either guards are getting right to the ILBs or linemen are getting pushed back so the ILBS can't scrape and take good angles you will get killed. For those saying that you HAVE to blitz for it to be effective....do you want to really have a base d that you have to run huge risks so that it works? I would use them to create turnover opportunity, not to mask the inherent weakness of the defensive formation.

Moore should have had 2 passing TDs tonight and completed 4 of 7 passes... but 2 WR drops hurt the passing stats. Drew throws the ball plenty good enough.

 

But, like many others have already said, why throw it when the other team is stepping to the side and yelling "olè" as Dixie gouges them for big chunks of yardage?

 

Dixie has POUNDED teams since the CCH loss (which I still think was a fluke)... while SK has struggled mightily to get by teams.

 

Would love, love, love to see Dixie and Highlands play.

 

Dixie needs to put their head down and keep chopping wood. Ryle game cannot be overlooked.

I'd like to see Dixie have some sustained success year after year like the Bluebirds. Brossart is starting to build that at DHHS. Let's not go over the edge with this Highlands talk, been a while since the Colonels were able to be have success against the Birds. Next year both will be in 5A, same district.

Yes. I'd say they will probably request to be back to 6A after the 5A cycle is over.

This is part of the reason that I don't like the 3-4 in high school. Very few teams have the d linemen to properly play 3 on 5.

Very few have 4 d lineman....I can only think of two 4a thru 6a teams in NKY that do not run a three front.

 

When teams put a TE in they just walk down the OLB making it a 4 front

Watch the tape. Even if SK made every tackle that they could have it would have been downfield almost every play.
