October 14, 201412 yr There sure are a lot of folks that IMO claim if he wins a playoff game this year then all is good as Marvin being a HC. Am I the only one that says 1 yr out of 13+ just doesn't cut it? I hate to lose perspective on life as a Bengals fan before Marvin Lewis. With that said, I still would prefer him as the Bengals GM if we can attract the right coach.
October 15, 201412 yr He is 1-12 in last 13 prime time games He has been in 9 overtime games and only won 2. He has 0 playoff wins as a HC in 13 seasons. Can we please make him GM and hire a new head coach already? Your stats are pretty convincing. I think the Bengals have won lately mostly in spite of him (as an in game coach, he's beyond bad). They've had the talent to overcome it. That said, I'm not sure I'd want him as a GM. Maybe he'd be great, maybe not. I'm not sold he's the one who assembled this roster. Bengals front office has grown a bit in the scouting department recently, and Mike turned a lot of stuff over to other family members. Question for anyone: When was the last time a NFL coach lasted 13 years in one job without a playoff win? Change the question, when was the last time a coach/manager in any pro sport lasted 13 years in one job without a postseason win?
October 15, 201412 yr I thought it was an awkwardly obvious line, yet your choice of "only" was interesting. A winning overall record is a pretty good accomplishment in a league seeking parody -- not sure "only" fit. In my opinion. I am admittedly a Marvin fan. I too am a Marvin fan. My brother and I get into some good debates about him. He wanted him gone 4-5 years ago. Marvin has developed a good team from a bad team, blown up the team when characters outnumbered professionals and built a good one back up again. The players really play for him. You never hear any negativity from players here now or who have gone on. He is awful in most press conferences because it looks like it pains him to do them and he appears to be a reserved type of guy. That doesn't help his public persona. He has built an extremely impactful and important foundation in the area and is truly a positive influence on many lives. I have experienced that personally by seeing and knowing those he has helped in Covington alone. I know that doesn't equate to wins and losses, but it does have a bearing on my admiration of him.

Your right has blown up the roster twice and built it back up both times. Which shows he can build a winning regular season team. Whats bad is twice he has blown up the roster and built it back up in different ways. But yet the playoff results were the same. There has only been one thing that has stayed the same in both cases and thats him. He has to get it done this year in my opinion.
October 15, 201412 yr I think the fact that Marvin laughed about Burfict's dirty play and likened it to the WWF is unacceptable and he should be reprimanded. This is serious stuff and as much as I love Burfict as a LB he was wrong for deliberately trying to hurt Newton and Olsen. Its right there on film and the NFL will hand down a penalty soon. It is being reviewed currently. Once they determine it was DIRTY they need to go to the Marvin Press Conference and play that back for him while handing him a hefty fine. Just my two cents.
October 19, 201412 yr Author So now Marvin has also laughed at Burficts Concussions offering them to him basically faking is what his comments come down to. Marvin needs to go period. 3 straight embarrassments as a coach without a win to show for any of them.
October 19, 201412 yr I am not a huge Marvin Lewis fan but the Bengals are in first place in their division and if Nugent can make relatively easy FG for an NFL kicker (or college kicker for that matter), the Bengals are 4-1. I do think it is a bit premature to get rid of Marvin at this time. Also remember this team has had to deal with numerous significant injuries. If they fail to make the playoffs or limp in and lose their first game again, I would be OK with the Bengals trying someone new but to let him go in the middle of the season makes no sense. Not any more.

You obviously did not watch the ESPN Pregame and listen to the excellent discussion regarding this from Tom Jackson, Cris Carter, Keyshaun Johnson and the guy who knows as well as anyone, Ray Lewis. None defended making illegal hits with the purpose of ending a career and all of them stated that 90% of plays have someone doing the exact same thing Burfict did last week. They commented that the only thing Burfict did, was get caught. So, let's not make this about Burfict being anything other than just another player in the NFL. If you want to keep Burfict from doing this, then catch the other 90% of the plays!
