He is 1-12 in last 13 prime time games

He has been in 9 overtime games and only won 2.

He has 0 playoff wins as a HC in 13 seasons.

Can we please make him GM and hire a new head coach already?

I am not a huge Marvin Lewis fan but the Bengals are in first place in their division and if Nugent can make relatively easy FG for an NFL kicker (or college kicker for that matter), the Bengals are 4-1. I do think it is a bit premature to get rid of Marvin at this time. Also remember this team has had to deal with numerous significant injuries. If they fail to make the playoffs or limp in and lose their first game again, I would be OK with the Bengals trying someone new but to let him go in the middle of the season makes no sense.

This is one area where HB and I agree but not until the end of the season and assuming the season ends without at least one playoff victory.

In short, I would rather see Marvin be the GM and the Bengals bring in a coach that is better at the point of attack (on game days) yet willing to work in a system of shared responsibility where he doesn't always have final say in personal decisions.

Cant really disagree. The only thing he has a winning record on is overall record. Which that has more to do with the players he gets on the team, which supports making him be only the gm.

Umm...okay.

Is what I said not true about his overall record being a winning record? In fact I know his regular season record is a winning record. If you put the playoff record with it, I think he still has an overall winning record. So he has done something right, and since he does suck as an in game coach. He must have at least have done well in helping put a team together. Which is why I think most of us are fine if he was the gm but not the coach.

I thought it was an awkwardly obvious line, yet your choice of "only" was interesting. A winning overall record is a pretty good accomplishment in a league seeking parody -- not sure "only" fit. In my opinion.

I am a fan of his for turning this franchise around from what it was. However very few coaches keep their job as long without winning a playoff game. I could buy he earned a longer leash than most considering how bad we were when he got here. Which he has put good teams together. However sometimes coaches can only take teams so far and needs another coach to push them over the hump. Which if the bengals fail again then its time for that to happen. Which I do realize sometimes that could also lead to teams going backwards if you dont hire the right guy. I think thats a chance they need to take after this season if they fail again.

Marvin is a good coach. But that's about it. His near .500 record shows that. Great coaches find a way to win playoff games... especially when they've been with a team for more than a decade.

There sure are a lot of folks that IMO claim if he wins a playoff game this year then all is good as Marvin being a HC. Am I the only one that says 1 yr out of 13+ just doesn't cut it?
