It was cold and the boys were wearing their traditional Beechwood game kilt/Braveheart outfits, but for a cheering section that is so proud of itself and gets such rave reviews (rightfully earned), they embarrassed themselves much more than the football team and Coach Wirth did. To leave in the middle of the third quarter when their team could use support the most, just embarrassing.

I can't think of anything that is more demoralizing to kids, than to look up into the stands and see little to no support for them. Watching your fan base get up and walk out during a game is bad enough but watching your fellow student cheering section do it has to be the worst. Keep your heads up Cov Cath. You have a proud tradition and a great group of young men.

Trust me, it was long before Beechwood had the game in-hand that they left. At Half-time I saw some Kilts heading into Skyline. Hats off to the 5 or 6 Crazies who stayed in the stands until the final whistle. For the rest of you, shame, shame, shame on you. Regroup and get it back together.

Wow! Just getting here. Off the grid yesterday! Not taking anything away from Beechwood, but even in championship years for them, I don't remember this kind of stuff happening. So first, huge congrats to Beechwood! But what the heck is going on with Cov Cath. My feeling is they have to be in a huge funk and I don't believe they are as bad as they are playing. Just not a good team right now. I stunned!

Congrats Beechwood coaches, players, cheerleaders and fans braving a cold day in October to WIN a big game. Great game plan by coaching staff and the young men of Beechwood went out and played like Champions. Way to keep CovCath's offense off the field and controlling the football. And when your defense was on the field they just flat out punished people. Very impressive game and Beechwood is still made up of mostly Juniors. Show me a Beechwood team with a Slusher on it and a good attitude and that is what you get a great football player. This Beechwood team is very talented and they have some very good weapons. Good luck Tigers going forward. Oh by the way great game calling Coach Hergott and game plan by a great coaching staff. JD

 

That is a very good comment about the coaches and the game plan. Beechwood's players put on a clinic in how to play a football game as a team. Every player did his job, stayed disciplined and it paid off. For me, one tell tale play is this. CCH tried a trick play. They rolled the QB to the left. He tossed the ball to a WR on an end around. As the WR tried to get around end, there was a Beechwood defender standing and waiting for him. There was another option on the play. The WR could throw the ball to another WR, which he did when he saw BW was ready for the end around. He threw the pass and completed it but another Beechwood defender was in perfect position to cover the receiver and immediately tackled him for a short gain. That play was impressive by the Beechwood coaches for teaching the players right and by the players to execute the play right.

 

Coach Hergott has taken some heat from fans for the offense over the past few years, but his play calling this season has been almost perfect. He is doing the best job he ever has as offensive coordinator.

Last time BW beat CCH they also won state that same year, so it has happened in their state title years also.

Hats off to whoever coaches the lines for the Tigers. Mt Healty they were physically dominated. Reports were it was even worse vs Dixie. From what I watched yesterday, it was their line physically beating up Cov Cath. That first drive really set the tone. They converted three or four third and three or fours in a row, not but throwing it but by handing it off and running it right at them. That was unexpected in my eyes, but it's that OL and DL play that makes me wonder if their is a 1a team that can hang with them. Some things to work on, both RBs put it on the ground yesterday and occasional poor tackling, but overall a great game all around. I was impressed by the poise the QB showed, couple games I watched he showed a tendancy to get a little rattled, but he was very poised in and out of the pocket.

I think the crazies operate "With a spirit that never stops seeking attention".

I don't blame anyone who left early, if this game was last week or so with much warmer weather then I would see it as an issue. A down side to a day game that is on TV. Plus it put some excitement in then air at Skyline, interesting conversations going on too. Not only students were making "noise".

 

I really don't care what they were cheering if it was true. So they get looked down upon for saying what a lot of adults are saying to each other behind a screen name?

I'm with you. I think, as I've stated in the past that this could be a special yr for Beechwood. I just don't think no one else in 1A can't hang with them I think Mayfield is still pretty talented.
