October 1, 201411 yr Good to see you and the 5 people that know Oberlin College exists are very proud... I'm very VERY proud. Proud of the history, proud that it was John Heisman's first HC job and proud my son plays for them and proud they are still the last Ohio team to beat the Buckeyes.
October 1, 201411 yr Kid who ran on the field lost his scholarship. Also, Urban had a "serious talk" with the coach for slamming the kid. Put me in the camp that says it was excessive and could have put the university in a bad position had his head slammed the turf. Grab him, tackle him. You don't have to body slam him.

I've seen the cops take people don't aggressively in games, there just not former D1/NFL linebackers.

Every situation has what is acceptable. That was unacceptable and could have seriously hurt the kid over nothing. But, hey, the coach got to show everybody how tough he is .

The coach decided to intervene from an unknown moron on the field. Save it.
October 1, 201411 yr It was a UC fan lol. Steve Austin loved it and so did everyone else! Apparently not...
October 1, 201411 yr He choose to come on to to the field of play and nobody knew his intentions. The coach decided to intervene from an unknown moron on the field. Save it. Something physical has to be done to deter this crap. Warn every fan, if you come on the field, you will be tased, no questions asked.
October 1, 201411 yr He choose to come on to to the field of play and nobody knew his intentions. The coach decided to intervene from an unknown moron on the field. Save it. His intentions were obvious - to run onto the field. At no point did it EVER look like it was anything else. Moronic and immature doesn't make the risk to the kid and to the university worth the body slam.

That's why America is so soft today, we're a shell of what we once were.
October 1, 201411 yr I am not implying that the kid was a victim in all of this...but he could have been. Had that coach seriously hurt the kid, he could have sued the coach and OSU for his injuries and you know he would have. I'm saying you do your job of coaching the players and let the guys with "SECURITY" on their backs handle the job of chasing down morons on the field.
October 1, 201411 yr I don't think it was the coach's place to apprehend the student. I think security/police have that duty. I'm not sure why he felt the need to take it into his own hands, unless he felt the kid was a threat to the safety of the student athletes and staff on the sidelines. All that said, the kid got what he deserved. The coach didn't think "Oh my gosh! Perf opportunity. I'm totally going to body slam this tool." He just did it in the heat of the moment. Instead of placing blame there, let's try teaching our young adults (NOT KIDS) that stupid "memorable" moments to tell your friends about at a party are not worth the potential consequences. Let's teach them to abide by the rules, don't run onto the field, don't carry airsoft guns, don't get so wasted that you can't handle yourself at a party or a bar. Come on.
