The key to Ray Rice's appeal/defense is proving the NFL and the Ravens...

Featured Replies

viewed the second video prior to it being released by TMZ.

If Rice can do that, the NFL (and the Ravens to a lesser extent) is up a creek without a paddle. If Rice can't do that, the NFL and the Ravens are going to stick it to him.

Agree? Disagree?

I can't speak to any legal argument he has, but the video confirms what everyone already knew. What new information did it provide? I suppose if he has a case, it's hard to imagine what the NFL could claim changed based on the video other than the public had a visceral image of the punch and they couldn't brush it aside any longer.

I agree. I would love to see that the NFL viewed the video just to watch that drama unfold.

The case has already been adjudicated in court right? So I'm assuming you mean his defense in regards to a longer suspension?

I am no lawyer either but this is Un-American. You can't hand down one punishment and then weeks later hand down another because a video surfaced that you had access to when you made your initial decision on a punishment. And I don't care what the NFL says, they had access to all the video. Billion dollar businesses get whatever they want.

I have no idea how these things work, but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyway. I'd imagine if the NFL saw this tape, they viewed it with some kind of legal council present. In my head there would be no way a lawyer wouldn't explain to the NFL or the Ravens what it would be like if the video ever got out after handing down a 2 game suspension. PR nightmare. I also wonder if Rice's lawyer would have been present, seems like someone to worry about if the video ever got out(a paper trail so to speak).

But I've also read multiple times about how big Roger Goodell's ego is. And if it's anywhere near that big, then maybe I could see him not caring and taking the risk anyway.

I'm agreeing with you. Even if the NFL didn't see the video (which I doubt), what can they claim changed based on the video? They knew he punched her and knocked her out when they made the initial suspension. The only thing that changed was the public response to the video.

Yep, either way the NFL dropped the ball.

Assuming the NFL DID NOT see the video (or had access to it) then they may have heard a different story from Ray and his wife when they presented their case for Ray to not be suspended. We do not know what was said in those meetings. They may have said she went all Beyoncé's sister on him for 3 minutes before he pushed her away and she slipped and hit her head. They both may have been concerned that he was going to lose significant income otherwise. Or maybe his wife was simply afraid to tell the truth for fear of being beaten again.

Harvey Levin of TMZ is saying that tomorrow they will release information saying the NFL saw the tape before they suspended Ray Rice for 2 games.

As I said in another thread he wasn't fired for beating his wife, he was fired for the video being released..

I truly don't understand what the video changes?

Everyone didn't know he knocked her out?

The story I heard prior to the video release was that she was attacking him and he retaliated. This shows that to be false.

@BrodyLogan: Harvey Levin from @TMZ told @TonyPerkinsFOX5 they will release news tomorrow that the NFL knew about the Ray Rice video & turned a blind eye
