Once Dudley Hilton gets a look at the players at Taylor County and a taste of the community support he will head back to Eastern Kentucky. I will be shocked if he's there past this season. The only way he stays is if the extra money is just too good to pass up.

I had to look on the map to find out where Taylor County was....not proud to admit that. What's their football history? Anything to speak of?

In the last 5 years, Taylor has had two 2nd round and three 1st round exits from the Boys B-ball Regional Tourney...given the level of players they have had during that time, I would hardly chalk them up as setting the world on fire with their bball program...sound to me like a small-town Super has his hands a little too much all over the sports programs of his High School.

In 2001, two years after the year after the Semis...then head coach Brad Todd started a freshman at QB. Some of the parents threw a fit. Todd resigns at the end of the year and moves to Etown to become an assistant there.

 

Most know that Etown had a great run from 02-04..2A runners up in 03; lead by that freshman QB at Taylor Co.

 

His name? Chris Todd. Brads son..who later went to Auburn and started for a couple years before the CAM show came to town.

Nothing...and their basketball team is under a full investigation by the KHSAA for recruiting violations.

Sketchy situation this is. Sad, too. Because Dudley Hilton is/has and will never be anything but a class act and great football coach; and, he has no reason not to believe that Graves resigned due to health issues.

 

Two things I hope ultimately come from this:

 

1) Eric Graves gets to see what kind of great life there is outside of football (something he has done for over 30 years).

 

2) Dudley Hilton isn't made out to be a bad guy (which I don't think will happen, but just in case).

Taylor County has won four playoff games in their history and three came in 1999. The only other playoff win came in 2008 when they won their district, only to limp past fourth-seeded Powell County by five points, and then get absolutely destroyed on their home field by Estill County, 73-28.

Yes, 2008. He ran back four kicks against us in Lancaster and they won 65-56. Not completely sure why we kept kicking the ball to him! :lol2:

The last I heard, some kids knew how to took him and some didnt. Was a very rough practice for some kids yesterday under Hilton. Of course coming into the middle of the season, the players have to learn under a new coach and I mean learn quick. If youre not on the same page, you get left behind.

Am I wrong on this, but I believe a famous story about Taylor Co. was that they turned down Chuck Smith for the Head Coaching job, which spun him off into his success at Boyle. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was Taylor that said "no" to him.

Let's not forget there is an NAIA college in Campbellsville.
