Well its a black guy saying he sees it as some others did, a business thing. I dont think the guy is a racist at all, maybe what he said is percieved as being racist, but in all honesty I dont think he is a racist. And shouldnt be labeled as one.

I also dont think people on here who disagree and agrgue should be labeled racist either and I hope no one does that. Its awesome to discuss this stuff as it opens my mind up to things I have never thought about and enables me to see the other side of things.

I'm sorry but you aren't going to learn much from a message board. You have to go out and communicate face to face with people other than yourself to learn more about different cultures/personalities, etc... That's why segregation doesn't work. Just my opinion though.

Ive learned a lot from PPride and Deuce about race. Hard to get out when stuck at work.

I still disagree. Reading about PPride, Deuce and Gametime experiences in life is something I have I guess not experienced and reading it gives me great insight to another view I cannot have because I aint black.

AS long as we can argue about what we think and still be friends afterwards, then that is how the race problem ends. There is nothing wrong in blacks and whites having differences in this discussion, but in the end if it fuels hatred to the other race then it does no good. We dont have to agree, but we do need to see the other side of things, me included.

And hell yes I love to argue, sorry.

I get it... Mountain ref is a woman.

Wait, is that racist?

So there are no ethics in business? Do whatever you want as long as it is a "smart business decision"? Run off paying black customers because white customers have more money? No problem at all. Just doing what is best for the business... :idunno:
Glad you understand.

More like sexist....:D

What Danny Ferry actually said....

Atlanta Hawks discipline GM Danny Ferry for racist comments about Luol Deng

The fallout from racially charged comments by Atlanta Hawks’ leadership continued on Tuesday as general manager Danny Ferry was disciplined for making inflammatory remarks about Luol Deng.

Hawks CEO Steve Koonin has imposed undisclosed discipline on Ferry for comments the GM made to the ownership group in June when the team pursued Deng as a free agent.

Atlanta media outlets obtained a letter Monday night from Hawks co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. which cites Ferry telling the ownership group that Deng “has a little African in him.”

Gearon’s letter on June 12 to co-owner Bruce Levenson said Ferry went on to say, “Not in a bad way, but he’s like a guy who would have a nice store out front and sell you counterfeit stuff out of the back.”

Added Gearon: “Ferry completed the racial slur by describing the player (and impliedly all persons of African descent) as a two-faced liar and cheat.”

Deng, 29, was born in what is now South Sudan. His father moved his family to Egypt and then England. The 10-year NBA veteran is now a British citizen and played for England in the 2012 Olympics.

Deng, like Ferry, also played at Duke.

In his letter, Gearon recommended that Ferry resign or be fired.

He warned Levenson he believed Ferry’s comments “could be fatal to the franchise” if made public.

Gearon said he and the other co-owners “were appalled that anyone would make such a racist slur under any circumstance, much less the GM of an NBA franchise on a major conference call.”

Gearon declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press on Tuesday and Deng’s agent, Ron Shade, could not be immediately reached.

Hawks spokesman Garin Narain said the team’s investigation of Ferry’s comments uncovered a racially inflammatory email written two years ago by Levenson. That discovery led to Levenson’s announcement Sunday that he will sell his controlling share of the team.

Ferry apologized Tuesday but said he was only repeating what he had heard about Deng.

Do all businesses do what? Conjure up ways to get whites that are scared of blacks to come to their games?

You have to believe that that conversation has been ongoing for Cincinnati's Chamber of Commerce members. After the riots, and even a little now, that is a question that has to be answered. Right or wrong, many suburban whites will not go to to downtown due to the demographic.

I'd be shocked if the ratio was any lower than 85-15 white to black at the Banks and either stadium...

Let me catch up here.

Citing theories/reasons as to why white guys do not come to the game is not racist. How is it racist to say that many white people are afraid of being around "lots of black guys?" Hell, it's true. It's not racist. Stating that you want to get more white people in the audience so that the mix of black to white is "better"(however that is defined) is not racist. It's practical in his mind. It helps him take his attendance from 68% filled to a much higher %.

Maybe we have a different definition of "racism." I just don't see racism. I see race being a factor but that's not racism.

Would we be having this conversation if he said:

Stadium is only 70% filled. The average age of the crowd showing up is 68. The music we play is too much Statler Brothers . The old people bring their own snacks and don't buy anything. We have to turn the heat up really high because they're cold. They never yell. They complain about the speakers being too loud. So the younger fans who might want to come to the game aren't coming. We need to get a higher mix of younger people. Play some country music , pop, and hip-hop. Turn the speakers up louder and get this place rocking.

Ageist? Hate old folks?

Exactly what I was saying earlier but using gender . You can talk about race without being racist. People are jumping to conclusions on theories stated.

No one in this thread can point to a single racist action he took from this email. Which leads me to believe it's obvious this was about more ticket sales not driving black people out .

Are the younger people not coming because they are afraid of the older people???
