It is about fundamentally deciding to alienate your current base in any way because the people with more money aren't willing to spend their cash due to your customer base trending too black. It is the same as changing from a pizza joint to a taco place. Your pizza customers may feel alienated. They can still come to the restaurant but it's not going to be the same as it was before and it may be more crowded. The reason for the change of the restaurant and the reason for the desired change of the Hawks crowd is exactly the same.
