Hawks owner to sale because of racist emails.

Featured Replies

The Braves are moving the burbs for a reason. The divide on race was very evident in the Georgia Dome during the Vick saga. Every franchise in that town deals with it. The owner of the basketball team just put it in words...

I understand that, but my point was that it didn't have to be an either/or where he had to make the stadium less black to get more white people in. Unless it was white people on each side of the debate during the Vick saga and they were just fighting with one another then it'd show that black and white people didn't care to go to games together and it wasn't as much of an "either/or". That was my point.

Are the Braves a racist organization?

Well, they do have an Indian as a mascot. :lol2:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The lack of father and sons coming to games comment can be perceived as racist. The Kiss Cam being too black can be perceived as racist. The cheerleaders being too black even though over half the cheerleaders are white can be perceived as racist. The comment about blacks not cheering and complaints about the late arriving crowd can be perceived as racist. The primary goal being to make money doesn't eliminate racism. When Tommy Hilfiger said he didn't want young blacks wearing his clothes his primary goal was to make money and it's still a racist statement.

Will respond later but Hilfiger never made those comments. Internet myth.

I would say that I'm surprised at the defense of some of the comments made in the email, but I'd be lying...

I'd always heard it was a myth.

Yes he did.

Atlanta is a horrible sports town because the lack of support and money that flows is severely lacking in a metro area that is 9th largest in the US.

So how does the guy fix his franchise problems without addressing them?

He has to sale luxury suites and premium tickets to make the big $$$$.

So there are no black people in Atlanta to sell luxury suites to? None?

12 teams had worse records. Only 2 had worse attendance.

I'm sure plenty of blacks in Atlanta could afford it, but do they like basketball enough to drop $20k-$350k on premium seats and suites?

Assuming all black people like sports that much would be....well racist.

So they were in the bottom half of the league... Real incentive to go watch that team play. Especially when you have a baseball team and football team in town that you can give your money to.

Obviously white people don't like basketball enough to get over the fact that there will actually be black people at the game that aren't playing...

They don't get a ton either.

There is a reason the Braves are moving from a 20 yr old stadium......
