I found nothing wrong with what Dicky had to say last night. He just commented on how this wasn't a very good Ashland basketball team. Dicky has been around a very long team, and has seen some great Ashland teams. If you compare this years team to Ashland teams of the past he is correct in saying this years team wasn't very good.

I was told he called this team "pathetic", if that is true, he is totally wrong.

There is nothing "pathetic" about this group of kids, they did the best they could, they lost their big man, and people expected that to help them?

I think they exceeded "realistic" expectations based on the schedule they played, and I never heard them complain over the hand they were dealt

From my angle(mid-court, first two rows) there was no contact at all. To get that call (half-court buzzer beater) you would about have to break bones. Great win for a very young team. Ferguson took the game over like you would expect a senior star player to do, only he is a freshman. I guess one highlight is the Swami was wrong, again.

I was sitting at about the three pt line on the Ashland side. I did not see anything close to a foul on the last shot. As to if he got it off in time or not I couldn't tell. I know there was 4 seconds left when Elliott hit the last shot and I was just watching Matt bring it up the court and shoot and didn't pay too much attention to the clock. I thought the game was well officiated. It seems they were calling the touch fouls, but it was consistant for both teams.

He must have said this is their first losing season in 16 years at LEAST fifteen times. Plus this team should not have been ranked in the Top 10 in the region? It was done in very poor taste. Quote "This season has MERCIFULLY came to an end." I agree with RickyP this team gave all it had and came up short. Give them and the staff some credit.

Ashland P.G. Blazer is a high school in the northeastern section of Kentucky. It is not a collegiate or pro team and their sports programs are dictated by the play of teenagers, who don't deserve bashing of any sort.

Exactly! Ashland fans need to realize that they are not a NCAA D1 program! These are just kids and shouldn't be subject to what was said on the radio or what has been said by a few people here.

From where I sat, I didn't think that there was a foul. However, the official raised his hand in what I thought was indicating that he got the shot off before time expired and would have been good in the event he made it.

 

That is what I saw - I couldn't tell from his actions what his intentions were. I thought he was going to call a foul, but he could've been indicating three if it goes. It was so loud and everyone was running all over and jumping that I'm not really sure what happened. My first thought was "for the love of God, don't foul!!!" I do know that the Elliott defender was in a very vulnerable position if the shooter would have jumped into him in the air.

Ashland played good fundemental basketball and killed Elliott County on the boards. Elliott is going to have to do a better job blocking out if they want to continue to advance. The freshmen were simply not going to let this one get away. Those kids just don't quit regardless of the score. Greenup County is a physical team that will pose some matchup problems, but I believe Elliott's speed will also cause similiar problems for Greenup.
