The entire site is filled with parents that think their kid is the next Shawn Alexander. That is what keeps this board going. With that being said,

I think SK wins big. I hope they have the class to not put up 80 points. There is no need to degrade any opponent with that type of score. Work in the kids that do not get as many reps, work on the weaknesses, and stay healthy. The Cougars are in rebuilding mode after Barker and Way graduated. It also hurts that a number of very strong players decided not to play football this year. As far as SK putting up that many points on Cooper, I don't see it happening. While I don't think they are a top 5 team in NKY, they are not as bad as some are projecting and always seem to get better as the season moves along, but that is another topic. I hope the Cougars have a better showing. There is some talent among the ranks, and I hope they stay positive.

My son played on the 2003 Covington Catholic team that went into the Pit at Elder against the defending state champs (and they would repeat that year). I think Elder put up 28 in the first quarter. Long story short final score was something like 49-21. Elder COULD have put up 80 had they wanted to. Fortunately, Coach Ramsey put every kid on the HUGE Elder roster in the game in the 2nd half allowing CCH to save some face. As a parent I really appreciated the gesture.

That reminds me of one memorable gesture that will forever stay with me. If anyone watched or listened to the 2012 Class 5A state chamionship game, they will remember a gesture that spoke volumes about the decency and class portrayed by Bowling Green's coaching staff and players that day.

 

If people remember, BG was favored by 5+ TD's that game against Cooper. Cooper turned the ball over on their very first 2 offensive plays. 2 turnovers before they ever got started and BG ended up winning by 14. Those 2 turnovers were very costly especially if anyone remembers the 2nd turnover came right after Cooper returned BG's kickoff to inside the 10 yard line.

 

The rest of the game both teams played even, Cooper stayed with BG the entire rest of the way and if it wasn't for BG capitalizing on Coopers Turnovers with TD it may have been a different conclusion.

 

With that said, BG showed the respect they gained for Cooper during that game and near the very end of the game, BG with a little over a minute in the game took their chances with a deep pass to Fant who came up with a diving catch inside the 5 yard line. BG very easily could have put the undeniable final nail in the coffin to show their dominance in 5A by walking into the end zone but instead by showing true class, BG decided to kneel down in victory formation instead of scoring again. They ate the clock up and showed just how classy of a team and how much respect they had for Cooper.

 

I will never forget that. That shows truly how great a team and coaching staff can actually be than putting 80 points on the board. It also teaches kids what true sportsmanship is all about which is a more important lesson than how to run an off tackle play.

Good question. If it's an ankle sprain as previously reported I would doubt he plays. No need to risk further injury in a game the pioneers are heavily favored.

Who wins - SK 45-13. Why - Im just going basically on the eye test. I Believe SK is a Top 3 or 4 team in NKY and I think Connor is a bad football team. I think SK will remember last year close call of 42-35, I believe and they will hammer the Cougars this years.
