I thought that was just an issue at our house. At least once a week I have to reset the modem and router to get it to work properly. I love it the connection when it's working. We don't have cable/satelite but have Roku's on two tv's and my daughters are constantly streaming youtube etc on their ipads and have no problems. I pay $44.95 for 30 megs. I did just get a new charge of 4.95 for modem lease fee on last bill I have never gotten in the last 7 years.

No, it's a problem with them.

I will tell it gave us fits on one occasion. We got our son a laptop for a graduation present. We were trying to configure it but the internet just wouldn't work on it using the wi-fi. Got so bad we called Dell, they sent a Tech out to the house to try and figure it out. He then decided it was a hardware issue and they sent a new laptop out, had the exact same issue, by this time we were pretty upset at Dell and Windows 8. We called Dell back and told them we had the same problem with the 2nd laptop where it wouldn't work with the wi-fi although would work fine if we plugged a ethernet cable straight into the laptop. Dell went ahead and sent a 3rd laptop out when we sent the 2nd laptop back, but this time the 3rd laptop was an upgrade and they sent it for no additional cost (was about a $400 more laptop than the previous) and it still didn't work until we called Time Warner and they dialed in and reset the router back to factory defaults and viola, the laptop connected just fine then. Now the thing is, we still had the 1st laptop and Dell never sent a return label back for it and we have the 3rd latptop, so we basically got a free laptop :)

Now this issue with the wi-fi kept being an issue where we'd have to power down the router and then power it back up on a daily basis and Time Warner said, well you may have gotten a refurbished one so bring it in and we will give you another. We got the new one and guess what? Yep about once a day, sometimes more, we have to power it down and then back up again.

It's not just you, it's them and their wireless. Works fine if you are plugged in with Ethernet cable.

But at least we got a free laptop and a upgraded laptop because of Time Warner crappy internet.

Now like I said, the speed is about 3 times faster than zoomtown ever was and it's much much cheaper, but the wi-fi is a hassle.

I recently switch from Time Warner to Cincinnati Bell Fioptics due to the crappy quality of Time Warner's internet. I couldn't keep a wireless signal in my house. I used multiple routers, and nothing worked. With Fioptics, I pay $50 a month for 20megs and router rental. For home phone, I use Ooma, which is about $3.25 per month for local and long distance. I haven't had an issue yet with Fioptics outside of their customer service. My first bill was over $400, because they entered my activation date incorrectly, plus they didn't give me their promotion price. I've been going back and forth with them for over 2 weeks now, and I still haven't been able to get this resolved.

Tell me about it. My $130/month phone/internet/tv costs me $200/month. Their CS is awful. If that same sales guy shows back up to my door someone better alert the national guard.

The CBell sales guy that showed up at my door once Fioptics became available was a piece of work. They went door-to-door letting us know that it was available along with their promotional pricing. I asked the guy for the price on the 20meg, and he wouldn't. He kept trying to upsell me to 30+. I repeatedly told him I just need 20. Finally, he said he'd check with his manager and call me back. The bastard called me back with a bundled price for 30, TV, and phone. All I wanted was 20. This was evidently a sign, but my TWC was so bad, I couldn't use the internet unless I was connected directly to the modem. Now I'm dealing with trying to get my bill straightened out, and all I'm able to get into contact with are the CSRs in India. And based on the last call, they can't do anything about it. My sales lady needs to talk to me about it. I was able to dig her number up, and I've left her 2 messages with no replies. I know if I don't get this resolved quickly, they're going to try to tack on a late fee.

next time you call Cinti Bell, demand to be transferred to a rep in Cincinnati. They will try to push back and say it's not possible. It certainly is possible. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll give you the # for a contact I have.

I'm on the phone with them again. If I get the run-around, I'll be asking for that number. :-)

I even have the direct number to my sales lady, and she won't answer. Her VM doesn't mention anything about being on vacation either.

I have had Time Warner for several years and have had zero issues with having to reset the modem.

Time warner is horrible for Wi-Fi

You have to keep resetting the stupid router, can't stand it. Unfortunately we had Zoomtown (my wife works from home so work pays for it) but even with a business connection, zoomtown was slower than it was suppsed to be for what we were paying and what we were promised so we switched to Time Warner which was cheaper and a lot LOT faster, but the big issue is having to keep resetting the router, we just got a new one from Time Warner 2 weeks ago and that didn't fix the problem. I hate it.

Boy this sounds familiar. I switched from Zoomtown about a year ago to TWC. Zoomtown's connection was bad, speed was slow, and it had outages almost monthly. Fioptics wasn't available, so I had no choice but to use TWC. I've had the same exact router problem. Been through 3 different routers, and a new router fixes the problem briefly, after a week or so I'm back to every other day resets. I've been told to change wireless channels, Use auto channel select, move the router, etc, and nothing fixes it. For some reason it always seems to happen when it rains. I should probably try buying and using my own router, but haven't tried that yet.

Finally got it resolved after 2+ weeks. I don't know why this guy could resolved it, and the other 6 or 7 couldn't.

Time Warner and Cincinnati Bell are both brutal when it comes to customer service. Just absolutely brutally bad.

Had Bell for years and years, and finally just had to get rid of them. I actually tried to get rid of them years ago and a sales rep gave me a deal I absolutely couldn't refuse, until I got my first bill. Bill was nothing different than what I had been paying, no new pricing. I paid it and figured the new deal would start with the next billing cycle. Next bill again showed no change. Called Bell and finally got hold of someone with English as their first language. He told me I his records showed I had been offered a new rate, but declined it. I asked him why in the world anyone would decline paying less for anything, that obviously I didn't decline it. We went back and forth, and I finally said fine, just give me the new rate now, I accept it. He told me that rate was no longer available and he couldn't do anything.

I stayed with Bell a little longer, but their customer service got progressively worse. The last call I made to them, I wanted to speak to a CSR supervisor, and they couldn't get me transferred correctly. Pretty sure the last thing I said to them was, "You're the phone company and no one knows how to use a phone. That's a problem."

Bunch of maroons....

Everyone hates on Time Warner Cable (and maybe with good reason). I've heard awful things about Comcast and can't speak to what TWC might be like after the merger.

What I will say: I live in San Antonio (which is an AT&T stronghold... the Spurs play in the AT&T Center for example). I've had AT&T and TWC here, and I'd say that of the two, my experience with Time Warner has been more positive.

My experience as far as what I remember about living and being at my parent's rural home in Kentucky was that TWC was crap and didn't care about getting your business, but if you have a number of options on the table that are as good as what they offer like what I have in SA where you can pick from AT&T, TWC, Dish, etc., then TWC will be competitive with them and you'll get quality service in terms of your cable boxes working properly, modems not malfunctioning, no need for service calls, receiving offers in the mail, etc.

Again, none of this is speaking to the Comcast merger or to the fact that Comcast has horrible CSR reviews.

I was thinking the same thing. When we had zoomtown I bought my own router but we still had issues with them so I thought maybe using their router would fix things...never did.

Just received a nice note from TWC that my special promotions I have will soon expire. But since I'm a great customer they are going to extend them not for the new increase of around 50 bucks, but for only $7.00 more a month! I'm so lucky!:taz:

I must be an exception to the "Comcast is horrible" rule, but I've had Comcast internet for 10 years and have never had a problem. Not one. The only thing I've changed was for 9 years I was renting their router/modem (not sure which one). Last year I decided buy my own, and everything still works perfectly fine. I'll consider myself lucky.

I have had absolutely no issues with FiOptics and highly recommend it.

Once we got past my DVR playback issue (hardware replaced) my service has been really good. Enjoy the service.
