I'm up to 22 stones. Just don't drink enough water and love those dark soft drinks. Had a few analyzed. They always come back calcium oxalate.

I've had lithotripsy and retrieval in the past. The last dozen or so I've passed on my own. Only once did I need the aid of Flomax when it got stuck at the end of the ureter.

I have this gross habit of reaching down into the commode and picking it out of the toilet. It makes me feel better to have it in hand. Some kind of validation for all the pain the stone has caused me.

Well Lawnboy, you shod have stayed away from Orleans

You were probably by my house where the kidney stone fairy lives. I've had them 14 times and counting and the fairy probably saw you coming.

Hope all is well now!!! Nice job at making it to the hospital! Not as easy as it sounds to anyone who hasn't had them before.

To be honest, when I past your house is when the pain shot up.

You should have seen the face on this lady in front of Cooper High School as the FedEx truck went by around 70MPH.

We are the exact same, except I don't reach into the toilet to retrieve them, and it is mostly because everyone I've had tested is the same, calcium based.

Ive had a urologist do multiple tests etc and the chemical in the body that destroys stones I have more than enough but apparently she said I just don't drink enough fluids.

It really doesn't matter what you drink, I don't drink soft drinks hardly ever. We usually have kool aide or tea or water at the house along with fruit juices.

The last stones I had was back in November. The time before was the night of the BGP get together in Newport.

Had them so much that I can now 90% of the time tell hours before any pain sets in if I have them or not. When I first start to feel that low cramping feeling in my lower back at the kidneys I immediatly begin drinking as much water as I can and usually am able to pass them at home if they aren't too big.

Out of all the times I've had them, if it gets to the point where I have to go to the ER I have passed 3 of them as soon as I got to the ER before any morphine, but wasn't pleasant. If I don't get morphine soon I am unbearable.

Once when the doctor was describing how he would go up thru a certain body part of mine and knock the stone into a basket and pull it out......he said it was shooting foul shots. I was just hoping he wasn't "Shaq-like".

Beyond thankful I've never had a kidney stone.

My stomach cringed and I started feeling a little nauseous once I started reading some of what others have went through.

Glad I stopped drinking pop 2 years ago. Strictly water for me, although I'm sure it's still possible to get them..

So is there any knowing you're getting them before you feel it full blown?

Or do you just all of a sudden fall to your knees in pain?

You know that pain you feel when you "really" have to :poop:, but you can't..........if it last more than 10-15 minutes chances are it's a kidney stone. At least that's been my experience.

Mine was had to pee like every 5 minutes. But mine was stuck in a bad spot hence the basket up thru the peep.

I've never experienced either, but many a woman has told me they'd rather give birth a hundred more times than experience another kidney stone. I can spot a kidney stone patient the moment they walk in the ER door. And I can tell the legit ones from the ones just wanting drugs.

Never passed a stone.

Birthed a 7, 9, 9, 10, 9.5. Pain is all forgotten once they put it in your arms.

Can't do that with a stone.

Yes. There are definitely signs that you know they are coming on.

The best way I can explain it is this.

You start to feel a very dull (not painful) cramping feeling in your lower back to the side depending on which kidney. This doesn't alarm a lot of people because it doesn't really hurt per say.

The feeling comes and goes (as the stone moves ) and then it will slowly become more and more noticeable and then it goes from a cramping feeling to a steady pain that continues to increase. This is when the stone starts to move from the kidney.

If you are lucky you will feel the cramping part early and you will usually have several hours before it becomes the pain you are hearing about. It stRts just as an uncomfortable feeling where you can't get comfortable. Get to the hospital before the all out pain hits because when it comes on it comes fast and before you know it you are laid out in the fetal position in the floor writhing in pain.

Then why do you continue to come back to this thread? :lol2:

I keep asking myself the same question. No idea.
