August 20, 201412 yr I feel sorry for kids in the Little League World Series. I have zero sympathy for Hoover. Why? The Little League kids are playing for fun. This is Hoover's job. It's his career. When you do poorly at work, or IF you did, and had to start stressing about your job security, I'd feel bad for you. People forget that these guys are at work. They're getting paid handsomely and I do hold them to a higher standard (ie: Manziel flicking the bench off. Unexcusable. He knows the position he's in and the expectations). But I feel bad for them when they struggle. It's the same stress you'd feel. I have a different perspective on it though because I'm closer to it personally I guess...

August 20, 201412 yr Hoover has been terrible but it's not like they have some stud RP in the minors to replace him with. It doesn't matter at this point. It could be anyone really. Any option has to be better than a guy named like a machine designed to suck.

I should have been more specific, but I feel bad for the kids when they make a major error, give up the game winning home run, and etc. I don't feel bad for Hoover at all.

He gets paid good money to pitch. Right.... So, again. The little kids are having fun. It is not a serious issue. They don't go home and stress and worry about it. They aren't getting paid to do it. It's not their job. Hoover leaves and is stressed about it. He is worried about his job security. I'd feel bad for you if you were in that situation, even if you had poor performance at work. It still is awful to feel that kind of stress and pressure when you're trying to provide for your family, regardless of the amount of money. I feel bad for Hoover. As a fan of the reds, it's frustrating and I wish he'd do better, but when he gets sent out there when he's struggling and you can see it on his face, I do feel bad for him. My brother's career is baseball. When I see him stress and his teammates stress, I do feel bad for them. Even though most of them have been paid a nice sum to do what they're doing. They're still people with bills and a family. Just different perspectives, I suppose. Carry on
August 20, 201412 yr Here is the bottom line for me. I actually was thinking about starting a thread on this. If by some miracle the Reds got to the playoffs, do they have any chance whatsoever of winning a series, let alone the whole thing? I know the pitching is great and that will help in a series, but the teams they face will have at least 2 top notch starters as well and the Reds offense is not capable of scoring runs against good pitching, let alone top notch pitching. I think this team has no chance to win in the playoffs with any starting 8 they put out there so I don't care any more about this season. Blow it up this off season.
