August 19, 201412 yr I'm young so Tomlinson and Bush are in my top three. Peterson is #1. Willis McGahee had one of the best seasons for a back that I can remember. Portia and Gore were probably more talented though. Love LaMichael James but he was likely a product of the system. Ron Dayne was a good college back and Clarett's one season was special.

August 19, 201412 yr Author Just Last night I watch a "classic rewind" game from 1980 between UGA and South Carolina/ Hershel Walker and George Rodgers....(Rodgers won the Heisman that year). I had completely forgot about George Rodgers , was another great running back.
August 19, 201412 yr Surprised there isn't more love for LaDanian Tomlinson on here. Guy could do it all. Run, catch, even throw it. He was the best/most valuable player in the NFL hands down for a few years IMO. Statistically, there are few guys all time who can really match his body of work.
August 19, 201412 yr Funny story. I know a guy who lived in East Texas, in a town near Palestine. He's a pretty big guy who looks like he'd have been a good football player in his day. If you didn't know, football is kind of big here. Anyway, he was talking about a guy who that he'd known who was a few years older than him and played against the "Pride of Palestine" in high school. He said two things the guy told him about Adrian Peterson that stuck out: 1.) he got low to tackle him and all he heard was "click, click, click" and whiffed. The clicking sound was the top flap of AP's shoulder pads hitting the rest of the body of the shoulder pads. 2.) He got low and hit AP once while his legs were still moving and said, "it felt like when I was a kid and wrecked my dirt bike into a tree".
