Andrew Abner at Safety

Griffin Urhlage 2 yr Safety / 1 yr RB

Jarrod Dougherty 3 yr starter at kicker and will be just a JR.

 

plus several 2 yr starters.

 

Its not many but this is what Highlands has always done and have done very well. They start a few Soph to make sure when they enter a yr like this they know they will have seasoned veterans.

 

This yr will be no different, they will start a few Sophs, not sure how many and wont go into detail at which positions.

 

Lastly, one would be hard to find the last time Highlands started an all Sr let alone many JR/SR teams. It takes a total team effort and all of the kids need to know that each and everyone must be counted on each and every yr. NEXT MAN UP:thumb: JMO.

Then in that light, there is at least one junior that has started to see mail coming from the Division I schools. Realizing that they are only letters asking for a lot of general/basic information, but they are coming nonetheless.

Kicking is very tough to get a scholarship with. I have seen kickers the past few years who consistently put kickoffs in the end zone and even out of the back of the end zone and no scholarship.

From my point of view I would call it "unproven talent" at this point. Highlands always seem to have talent every year, but what the coaches do with that talent will be the key this year. Compared to other years at HHS there are very few returning starters and I don't think any seniors this year started when they were Sophomores, and very few started as Juniors. I know this post seems vague, but like every year at this time, things are quiet in the Fort. After the scrimmage with T, we will know more. Toughest schedule for the Birds that I have ever seen.

 

What H looks like today could look a lot different come August 24th. Scrimmaging Trinity and Cincy St. X will take a physical toll on them. Maybe not to the extreme of last year's Elder game, but back to back like that is tough. I hope that they are at 95% going into the regular season.

I've seen kids get birthday cards, visits at there home and all kinds of mail. If you go by a wink, nod, thumbs up, then they are all D1. It takes OFFERS to be considered D1 in my books.

I'd never heard of him either, but I don't follow recruiting like I used to. His highlight video is awesome. That's a big kid at OLB. #2 ranked OLB in the country and #1 prospect in the state of Ohio. I'd say that the kid can play.
