Farewell to the Cardinals in 6A division in 2017.

Only 49 in my graduating class.

I'm not a "real" fan of the six class system, but to be honest I was warming up to it and the main reason for my waffling was Scott County. I thought for the six class system to really work, there had to be some parity between teams around the state, 6A in particular. The other thing that needed to happen was a NKY and WKY 6A power. Simon Kenton has been working on it. McCracken County seems to be the team in the west. Scott County was making things interesting. But, with this happening I fear we will basically lose 6A to a "Louisville Thing" and no one outside of Louisville really paying attention to the class.

You got me. 23 in my class. I graduated in 1970. School consolidated in 1974. We did not have a band, football team, heck only team we had was boys b-ball.

When I tell folks that I graduated 49th in my class, they are generally NOT AT ALL impressed with my academic credentials.

If the new school is built and there enough numbers to remain in 6A, and we assume the 'talent' is split evenly by attrition, then does Scott Co become just another average program(s)? You'd have to think they'd have strong teams on a cyclical basis but not every year.

I think what you are describing is exactly what we are starting to see with the 4 High Schools in Boone Co.

See Collins High School and Shelby County High School. Also, see Warren Central/Greenwood/South Warren and Oldham, North Oldham, South Oldham. Each is successful now and then in a particular sport.
