Matthew Sweet - Someone to Pull The Trigger

 

Probably never given the credit for what an emotionally moving and brilliant song this is.

 

Matthew Sweet sings of past heartbreak and now standing on the threshold of, but scared in moving forward in a love relationship with the hopes that this time things will work out, and how he's fully surrendering himself to it, no turning back.

 

I've heard this song numerous times and it just only gets better and better the more I've listened.

 

The song is not about suicide as I've heard some think it might be. I too was initially puzzled thinking the same thing when I first heard it.

 

If you've never seen Springsteen live, this is a little sliver of a typically two to three hour show.

The song title comes from the time signatures in the chorus: four measures of 5/4 time followed by a measure of 6/4 for 26 total beats. It's why it all sounds slightly off.

I saw this guy (Greg Holden)live at the 20th Century and to hear the inspiration behind why he wrote the song and then hear the song was pretty powerful and I enjoyed it.

 

 

He was opening for the Lone Bellow, I love their sound and harmony.

Andrea Bocelli with Sarah Brightman singing Canto Della Terra. At 2 minutes, 56 seconds into the song, the harmonization of their voices gives me chills every time.

This one wasn't that big of a deal to me, but I understand how loads times can be frustrating to some people. So no biggie there. What I was truly interested in when starting the thread was whether people would join in an actual discussion of the songs posted, proving that they at least listened to another song posted, or just post a song they wanted other people to hear.

 

When it comes to music, people are so quick to tell other people what to listen to while not offering the same in return. I know this is my first post after starting the thread, but I have been listening to the songs(not all yet). I just go on random posting slumps where I don't feel like posting anything other than links and maybe a sentence after.

 

Even if I don't reply to someone's song, I truly enjoy reading why they posted it and what it means to them. I use to be a big time music snob with my friends but I honestly look forward to hearing new music these days.
