British band "Headswim" is another to come and go far too quickly. They managed only a couple of releases. Saw them open for "Catherine Wheel" years ago and they really had something. Too bad they couldn't hold on to it, but they were damn good while they lasted.

Actually Stinkfist, AEnema, and Sober are the Tool tunes I'm most familiar with Sober being probably my favorite of the three, but they all certainly kick. I'm starting to have flashbacks about them and think that I might've even caught them at Lollapalooza or some festival a while back. Other than those tunes, I'm at a loss, but definitely will give the band some closer attention as it's always been in the back of my mind to do so. I think what initially made me hesitant was their darkness, but if I take them in doses they might not lay too heavy on my mood. :eek:

First few albums were dark, the mood changes on the last two, Lateralus and 10,000 Days. They actually go more spiritual.

Good to know. With their obvious quality musicianship and artistic lyrical intensity, I would've guessed that they too wouldn't want to spend their entire career in one and only one zone of darkness the whole time, however poignant their dark days might've been. Knowing this it makes me even more eager to delve in deeper giving comparison to their past as they evolved into their present.

The Bowerbirds

 

Fell in love with this poetic, organic, nature loving pair of folky DIY love birds from North Carolina a while back and jumped on their peace train early enough in their game to befriend them before their career took off, and make a point of making their acquaintance whenever I'm lucky enough to catch them as they stroll through town.

 

Each and every tune on their 3 releases warms the heart and restores the soul.

 

They've now found an adoring fan base that stretches into Europe, however small, but their calm peace of mind, woodsy log cabin living approach to life allows them to accept and appreciate whatever humble success they can garner regardless of their aspirations.

 

Their self-built log cabin home w/ recording studio was actually funded by contributions from their fans from a kickstarter campaign.

 

Their music is created from the heart and never strays from their internal instincts all for the sake of selling out to appease to a larger audience. Although few in numbers they know that the type that can appreciate what they do are out there somewhere.

 

This track "Hooves" from their first release displays beautifully and poetically the endless love between mother and child.

My favorite and IMO the most poignant lines of the song are the last two.

 

In this video Phil is the lead singer, while his mate Beth is the accordion player.

I'm a BIG Night Ranger fan, I'm sure most have heard this song, but not like this. The following is from "24 STRINGS & A DRUMMER – LIVE & ACOUSTIC"
