I've got the Showtime documentary that performance was from still saved on my DVR. Haven't brought myself to delete it yet.

 

I'm not too huge on Mumford & Sons...I could really take them or leave them, but man does Marcus Mumford seem to have a SOLID taste in music. Also, I like most everything he does...Chris Thile sure acts like a tool.

I definitely like Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, and Thile can play a helluva mandolin...but something just rubs me the wrong way about him as a stage personality.

I dig some digging and found out that the name of the other lead guitarist is Marc Mann, who has worked with Jeff Lynne and ELO in the past. I've never heard of him before.

That concert was really good. The music folks that the Coen Brothers got together to work on that movie were spectacular. I loved the music; I loved the movie.

Dubliners founding member Ciaran Bourke had been struggling with disease for years... which he hid from everyone... right up until the day he couldn't. He's the one reciting the poem at the beginning. So this is his final public appearance. They got a bunch of other famous Irish musicians (you can see the members of U2 up along the back) and had a TV special to wish him well. Within weeks Ciaran Bourke was dead and that poem held a very special and somber meaning.

Covington, Ky native Haven Gillespie wrote this song as well as "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"
