Back in the day I was somewhat into the progressive rock movement. Here's an album I still have. Love the vocal harmonies in the last minute plus.

Wow... very interesting... never heard of them. This one got by me and you've peaked my interest. Looks like they have quite a long history to bite into and an extensive discography that goes back to the 60's. Little by little I'm gonna have to check out more. Thanks for posting.

TooL, TooL, TooL, TooL, and TooL.

 

 

Greatest modern rock band that most people have not heard of. Musicianship is off the charts vocally, on guitar, bass, and percussion wise. Great song writing, great albums, great band. May not be most peoples style but if you are a fan of good music and heavier rock music they are a must listen. I liken them to a modern day Pink Floyd or Led Zep, I feel they will go down in history as one of the best to ever do it. Amazing live show as well. Love the fact they have avoided the mainstream and kept a cult following. Only band I have been able to listen to without ever getting burnt out on. Only have 6 albums (1 an ep and one a short live album with a couple bonus tracks) so I've heard all of their songs thousands of times and I still love them as much as the first times I listened. Just a great band all the way around if you are a fan of good musical quality. One of the tightest bands to ever do it, all comes together perfectly.

 

Always dug anything I've heard from them, but stupidly didn't dig too deep over the years. I noticed that just about their entire body of work is on Youtube so I'm gonna have to treat myself and play some catchup. Your post has ignited me to want to make up for lost time and see what I've been missing out on.

My second favorite album of all time...

 

Yeah I noticed it a while ago, I was meaning to ask you where you found that at. I have a t shirt with the eye on it. But you're right, classic album. Top 10 in rock history and that's not even a stretch. I like all the albums though, they each have their own sound. I'm looking forward to hearing what they come up with if they can ever get a new one out. Every new piece they've played live the last couple of years sounds awesome. Usually some of the new jams and bridges they do live will make its way to an album. They played jams on the Lateralus tour that ended up being Wings on 10,000 Days.

Arid - Me An My Melody

 

Years ago on slow nights at work I spent countless hours digging through sites like half.com sampling cheap discs for sale of bands I never heard of before searching for diamonds in the rough because quite often online sellers either sold promotional CD's or bands unheard of in the States pretty cheap.

 

I stumbled upon this Belgian band named "Arid" that made an instant impact on me because their lead singer Jasper Steverlinck's voice could not be denied. Dude is solid and often times has a tone quite similar to Freddie Mercury and sometimes even Jeff Buckley.

 

They've put out 4 proper releases since the late 90's and have made zero impact Stateside.

 

This song is from their first release.

 

Speaking of Freddie Mercury this guy here is dead on him.

 

Adam Lambert is fine, but too bad Queen didn't find this guy first.

Carey's a beast, probably one of the best. Same for Peart as you allude to. I always liked Rush, definitely not bad for a three man band and a lead singer that plays bass.

Hailing from Birmingham Alabama "Remy Zero" came and went far too quickly releasing only 3 albums in the late 90's with their last in 2001. Their 2nd release 1998 "Villa Elaine" was their perfect gem.

 

You'd never know that they were from Alabama as their stylings were spawned from obvious British band influences.

 

I saw them open up for Travis years ago while they were supporting the "Villa Elaine" release.

 

Early on they got a big boost because Radiohead heard a demo of them before they ever released their first album and invited them to support them on the US tour for Radionhead's "The Bends" release.

 

I don't know where to begin as all 11 tracks on "Villa Elaine" are remarkable and stunning.

 

Here's one of the singles from "V-E" called "Gramarye" - Don't be fooled by the first 22 seconds.

 

It's probably not even my favorite tune from the album, but thought that I'd start with their single.

 

Here's Remy Zero's other single from "Villa Elaine" called "Prophecy" and again this one's probably not my favorite on the album either.

 

If you were to did deeper I guarantee instant ear candy.
