July 31, 201412 yr If you're thinking about giving up prospects for Bonifacio keep in mind that if the Brewers play .500 baseball the rest of the way the Reds would have to play .618 baseball and go 34-21 to catch them. The only team in MLB with that high of a winning percentage is Oakland. If the Brewers play .550 baseball, which is their current winning percentage, the Reds would have to go 36-19. The Reds are also behind 4 other teams in the Wild Card standings. If the Cubs are really asking a lot for Bonifacio is he worth a decent prospect from a very thin Reds farm system? What were those stats 10 games ago? What were those numbers 10 days before the all star game? People play this game all the time, but those numbers can change very quickly. I think it is a waste of time to make any decisions based on those stats. Every single season teams blow stats like that up. Yes, the Reds have to be realistic about their chances, but that stat doesn't make the decision for me.

I would just rather have young interesting prospects pitching instead of Cueto,Latos or Bailey and wouldn't care if they gave up 6 runs a game as long as we had an offensive team that could get you 8 any day of he week.That may not get you into the playoffs(or it may), but sure would be nice to see your 8 starters giving you 15+ homers in hitter friendly GABP. 2-1 games or leading the MLB this year with 1-0 games just don't cut it for me. This is 2014. You could put the top HR hitters at each position in the NL and they wouldn't have 8 hitters with 15+ home runs. Not gonna happen in this era. Only 24 players in the entire league have 15 or more, for cryin' out loud...

They aren't the type of market that can afford what he's most likely going to command. Oakland is going all in with him and Samardizja this year, with no realistic chance to resign them. Boston is banking on Lester resigning in the offseason. If they're able to turn 2 months of Lester into Cespedes and bring him back next season? Ridiculous.

That's true, I was just thinking the Reds would have a better chance of signing him if he was already with the club, and I'm not talking about an elite prospect. Give them Corcino, he has really bottomed out the past two seasons.

July 31, 201412 yr Cespedes is a FA after 2015 and he isn't having that great of a year. Correct but it's not a horrible year either. BA and HR are a little down but still driving in plenty of runs. A's probably knew they weren't going to resign him either so they traded to win now figuring he wasn't the answer.
