July 31, 201412 yr Sad to see Lester and Gomes go. Lester has been an absolute bulldog for 2 Red Sox World Series Champions and Gomes came through time after time for them in big spots last season. Hopefully the Sox make a real run to bring Lester back in the offseason. I know who I'll be rooting for in the postseason.
July 31, 201412 yr If Cespedes was on the market and the Reds couldn't beat a Gomes/Lester deal, something is fishy at the Castellini HQ.

July 31, 201412 yr Author Sounds like Lackey going to the Cardinals. Boston getting Allen Craig and Joe Kelly in return. Pretty impressive haul for a guy not considered a "top-tier" starter. Edited July 31, 201412 yr by UKMustangFan

July 31, 201412 yr Sounds like Lackey going to the Cardinals. Boston getting Allen Craig and Joe Kelly in return. Pretty impressive haul for a guy not considered a "top-tier" starter. I agree. That's a great deal for the Red Sox.
July 31, 201412 yr ^ Have you seen Craig this year? I agree it's a good deal but it's not like Craig is doing anything special. Has he been hurt at all?
July 31, 201412 yr Interesting side note. Former Trinity and UK standout LHP Corey Littrell was the other piece that the Cardinals receive in the Lackey deal. Littrell currently has a 3.60 ERA in 100 innings with Boston's high-A club.
July 31, 201412 yr Sounds like Lackey going to the Cardinals. Boston getting Allen Craig and Joe Kelly in return. Pretty impressive haul for a guy not considered a "top-tier" starter. What a dumb trade by the Cardinals. Dumb. Craig's foot/ankle is still not right from the injury he suffered late last season. He's not running right and his swing isn't right either. Once he recovers he'll start raking again. For the Red Sox.
July 31, 201412 yr Author Dodgers and Mariners are leaders for Price. Jayson Stark just said, "Not only are #Reds not buying. Other teams say they've dangled Mat Latos. Looking for big return of course"
July 31, 201412 yr Author Make it happen Walt. I'm cool with moving Latos if it means some young ML ready bats.
July 31, 201412 yr Make it happen Walt. I'm cool with moving Latos if it means some young ML ready bats. I'd be fine with dealing Latos if it means getting some ML ready bats and we're able to re-sign Cueto...
