There's a little bit of avoiding the question. There's no third way here. You're either letting him go, or you're killing a woman and her unborn child to get him.

He's presenting a scenario that's not likely to happen. If you're a sniper you're good enough to take out the target with a single shot. If you're using an explosive device you're more likely going to be able to trigger it without shooting at it.

I would do it right now, without hesitation.

And remember, when I say pull the trigger...I mean on the explosive device, blowing the car up and killing all occupants, including the pregnant wife. Does that clarification change any of the yes'?

Bad mission assignment if it was not specifically stated to take out just the the threat or if surrounding casualties are acceptable.

Well, I just thought the fact that "sniper" was mentioned in the title, that was an option.

 

If only the ED option, as a trained CIA person, I'd say a silent prayer, ask for forgiveness and follow my orders.

But what if the woman is a family member who is related to the animal's wife that you had no idea were related? Just tossing stuff at the fan.

Getting caught up on semantics. This particular team was able to plant an explosive device and determined it was the way to eliminate the target.

I would actually hope the car explosion catches the house on fire and kills a few more.

In that case, killing thousands actually saved millions.

Personally I don't know if I could do it BUT I would be the first to congratulate the one who did.

I probably would not take a sniper job with the government or the military. The problem isn't pulling the trigger, its target selection. Someone is picking my target for reasons I'm unaware of. What may be a politically good target today could turn into a very bad target tomorrow.

I wonder how many of these types of missions there really are? I think most Snipers act as scouts and overwatch/protection for other ground forces...how many are sent out on specific "Kill Missions" that are not on the battle field?
