Once again, as it is so often in sports, the last play will get all the chat. Meanwhile, Chapman letting a baserunner walk to second base then wild pitching him to third will get much, much less attention. Imagine that popup had been the first batter and he ends up at second on the play, Then the baserunner steals 3rd no contest because Chapman is clueless. Then Chapman throws a wild pitch that allows the winning run score. Then we are all talking about Chapman and not Skip.

A base hit scores regardless of where they're playing, you bring your outfield in only to the point of where they can still throw someone out on a fly ball. Looked like the ball landed about 6-8' out on the grass. No way I expect an outfielder to come all that way to make that catch. I can only assume that since the infield was in, that Frazier thought Bruce must've been much, much closer considering how far he (Frazier) had to go back out. But maybe that's what we get when we play a guy out of position. And if Phillips is at second, then he's calling for the ball even if the other two guys are there. So, if there's a guy to blame, then I'd look at Skip. Only bad thing for him, is that the wind would've been blowing the ball away from him as he went towards it.

Frazier was the player in the best position to make the play. He got turned around and then lost the ball. It is hard to fault Bruce for not getting to a ball that hit maybe 6 feet behind the infield dirt.
