Would producing national ID cards cut into state revenues from driver's licenses? I would think state governments would fight the issue based on that fact alone.

I have a driver's license and a passport. How much more documentation do I need?!

They have plenty of info on us already, so maybe it would not make any difference.

You definitely should have an ID to vote but that debate is for another thread.

What would be the advantages of a national ID? The only clear advantage I see is that it unifies the disjointed state regulations/practices. How much of an improvement would that be?

 

I wouldn't oppose it if it was proposed, unless there was some bizarre or nefarious reason for doing it.

If it's not broken....leave it up to the gov't to break it.

I voted yes, but now that I think about it, if every state offers a photo ID, there is no reason for a national ID.

Have an ID proving citizenship and if you don't have one you are sent back to your country.

Kentucky ID's currently don't meet Homeland Security Requirements as a valid ID on their own.

Issue seems to be that they are issued by a Court Clerks Office and not a state wide office like the DMV in other states. The way they look at it is, that there are 120 different offices issuing ID's in Ky instead of just one state wide office like a DMV.

No, it is an unnecessary cost for us to do this.

Wouldn't it just be easier if they gave us a RFID Chip under the skin like we put in our pets?

Put a chip into the illegals wanting into America to work and if they don't report back within 4 days of allowed time to be here the chip blows up, this insures they go back in due time or else.
