LeBron had no reason to go to Miami until Wade and Riley starting putting the pieces together. I will give Cleveland some credit for keeping Irving around. For Cleveland, it's about the "hometown" draw for LeBron. You could argue Cleveland actually handled it very poorly (i.e. Gilbert's letter) and despite all of that the "hometown" draw was just too much. Cleveland did clear the cap space, but even an owner as incompetent as Sterling would have been smart enough to realize that had to happen. I agree with you. But both deals still hinge heavily on LeBron. The other pieces (Bosh and KLove) don't even attempt to move without LBJ in place. As big a tool as Gilbert is, he may come out of it looking good, and I hate that frankly. If there's a way he keeps Wig, has KLove, LBJ and Kyrie, people will forget how bad Bennett
