Top 25 Grossing Live Artists Since 1990

Featured Replies

Go to a Kenny Chesney and tell me you don't have a great time.

He'd have to hand out $100 bills for me to have a great time.

Only seen the Eagles. Twice.

I felt honor-bound to see them twice since I figured Jim wouldn't go.

DMB is one we will have to agree to disagree on. I used to be a hater, but my stance has softened.

When I saw them, it was when they first broke big (Ants Marching, etc.), and they put on a good show. Then I got the second album, and it was the same, and nothing ever changed from there. He never grew as an artist, and now is no better than other ho-hum snoozy soft-rockers like Jack Johnson and John Mayer. So I moved on to more interesting things.

You act as though I'm somehow clueless about what Jimmy Buffett Jr. is all about. :idunno:

I admire your (misplaced) sense of obligation and sacrifice. You shouldn't have. Really.

I have seen 16 of the 25 in concert. You're welcome, guys!

17 if you count Stevie Nicks solo.

I've seen 17. Most prior to 1990. The first (Sir Paul) was in May 1976...

I have to agree completely. I took some notice of DMB at first, but in no time at all I was pretty bored with it all.

Those that raved about him to me were pretty boring unimaginative type people too that felt happy to be part of a DMB concert going bunch that seemed all too happy and content to stay right there within their community of boring DMB adoring fans. (yawn)

Sorta like Grateful Deadheads but without all the drugs.

Cheers to both bands for taking one rather bland sound and having such great success at taking it to great heights.

I wouldn't say that I'm a hater of either band as they all seem like decent people, and I dig a few tunes here and there, and kudos for them for making serious $$$ doing what they love.

Of the top 25 I've seen:

U2 - Hoosier Dome - Indianapolis, IN - Joshua Tree Tour w/ Los Lobos, and also when Los Lobos were late showing up, U2 came out in disguise as a country band named "The Dalton Brothers" to entertain the audience that was growing bored waiting, with a few numbers. At first no one realized that it was U2 then little by little the entire place caught on.

Roger Waters - Riverbend Music Center - Cincinnati, Oh - (I don't recall the warm up, or even if there was one)

AC/DC - (Twice - Back In Black Tour & For Those About to Rock Tour) - U.S. Bank Arena (Then Riverfront Coliseum) - Cincinnati, Oh - Once with "Fastway", Can't remember warm up of BIB Tour

Metallica (4 Times) - Hoosier Dome (Monsters of Rock w/ Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken, Kingdom Come), Hara Arena (Dayton) w/Queensryche, Headlining Lollapalooza in Indianapolis, and Riverbend Music Center (Warm up I think might've been Godsmack).

I'm very surprised to see Roger Waters on this list, never would have guessed that, and would be one of the few on the list I would actually go see. If I'm not mistaken I believe him and David Gilmore went to court several years ago over the name "Pink Floyd" as they both were and or wanted to tour using the name. Don't remember the outcome.

I have seen 11 of them. Some multiple times. No shocker to RP but I was seated in the front 13 rows or better for 7 of them. I had a lousy retail job that had one perk. We were a ticket master outlet!!

Elton John, Billy Joel and Metallica are the only three on that list I would want to see.

Unsurprisingly, I've seen none of them. Several of them have come through the Yum Center in recent years but every time they do, I can't imagine paying that much money to see them.

Seen 3 of them; Metallica, Aerosmith, & Chesney (wife made me do it)

I've seen 8 of them. I remember 4 of them.

Toby Keith should pay the $250,000 sales tax owed by his NY bar. He can afford it.

Cher????? Really?

Cher puts on a great show. My mother and her brother were going to go. My mom, who was battling cancer at the time, was not up to going. So I went with my uncle.

Learned a bit about Cher that night. Her daughter Cassidy Bono, or what ever his name is now, has a lot of friends that support Cher.
