Just to clarify Joker...I'm not AGANIST transfers per se..."legit" transfers happen all the time for all sorts of reasons. Parents divorce; dad gets a new job; parents move to take care of elderly parents, and the list goes on. I would never say a kid who has had to move in circumstances like that should have to sit/not play.

 

What I'm not a fan of are situations such as Cordia (which we have discussed to death I know) and which of course as we know now had a lot of illegalities/rule breaking going on. But there are also other scenarios that while quite possibly all requirements have been met...lets just say it's not how I remember high school sports and I'm just not a fan of some of the stuff going on today.

 

Some, including PP92 have talked about this and similar situations has it's roots in the AAU "culture". I'm quite sure that's a fact and probably a big part of it. Some have also said we are headed to club basketball, and it seems some would like and maybe even prefer that. Count me as one who wouldn't like it. But as I have said, I'm a traditionalist that way.

My team (Fox Creek Christian) have played 3 different Australian travel teams over the past few years, and when we are done we sit down and fellowship with them over a big supper. Last year while talking to those kids and getting to know them a little, it's ALL about club basketball, and even though they have somewhat what we would consider high school basketball there, they actually kind of laugh about it and talk down about it and it's nothing compared to the club teams. That whole thing just seems weird to me. But, it's what they know and it's normal to them...and the pride they have is in their clubs and NOT their high school.

 

Want to hear something extremely ironic though? Fox Creek Christian, for all intents and purposes, by definition would be/is considered a type of club team. Think about that one for a second.:lol2:

For me, I love February and March with the Sweet 16 wrapping things up. I'd be disgusted if that ever came to a halt. I just think at some point it's going become an option and the high school game of basketball will change big time.

Yep, sure enough. Though I guess it would by definition be considered a club team, in reality we are almost the antithesis of a club team. By that, I mean if you think of a club team as getting the best players it can, many of our players are kids who were cut from or would not make the local high school or middle school teams. Not all of them, but a good number of them. But still, yes, by definition we would be considered a club team.

 

And I agree, nothing like Feb and March and high school basketball. Probably my favorite time of year for high school sports.

Sounds as if Scott County is reloading again! It amazes me how Coach Hicks does this year after year after year. It would be nice to see if he could coach on a level playing field.

BTW, I'm not saying that as a knock on HC or their staff. I think the Breds will still be a quality team and make a run at the region, but losing DJ will hurt.

It's pretty simple. If he didn't move or if he can't successfully prove he moved then he won't be eligible. As of now he isn't eligible. He's just a student at Scott County.

You're right, I don't know why he moved if he moved...but it doesn't take a scholar to figure out why he switched schools.

Coach Hicks is a very good coach and could do plenty of things without tons of talent. He's won at places like Evarts and Corbin, and has proven time and time again that he can coach.

 

Being at Scott County doesn't hurt him, but if you look at his career as a whole, he's been a winner everywhere he's been.

exactly!!! Been waiting for somebody to say that. It's ridiculous what's going on. Nothing against the kids tho. I'm all for a kid trying to get more exposure and improve their chances of getting noticed by colleges . But what happened to kids being loyal to their school and the kids they grew up with and playing with.
