At least we will know where Obama was and what he was doing as rockets started hitting the Green Zone. Fund raising and golfing. Maybe he will learn what happened when he reads it in the newspaper tomorrow morning.

US evacuating Baghdad embassy staff as Islamic militants ramp up attacks

 

The Obama administration said Sunday the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad will remain open amid the growing sectarian violence in Iraq but will increase security and that some embassy staff will be temporarily evacuated.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the staff will be moved to U.S. Consulate Generals posts in Basra and Erbil and to the Iraq Support Unit in Amman, Jordan.

The embassy is within the Baghdad's Green Zone. It has about 5,000 personnel, making it the largest U.S. diplomatic post in the world.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, a militant group, swept across northern Iraq last week and captured two major cities -- Mosul and Tikrit.

Iraqi government officials said on Sunday that ISIS fighters were trying to capture Tal Afar in northern Iraq and raining down rockets seized last week from military arms depots.

Fox News was busy airing a rerun of a show about the Bush family. Doing their part to get Jeb nominated is too important to cover breaking news. Besides, so far all of the reports that I have seen have been coming through Twitter. It could be an ISIS hoax, but I doubt that it is. Supposedly, ISIS has $2 billion on hand and is well equipped.

You would think having the US and Iran talking in attempts to work together to help prevent this should be huge news that you would see non-stop.

So Iraq has no air power? No cluster bombs? No napalm? It seems that this band of 800 had to be out in the open in the desert. Highway of Death II would have been the answer early on.
