June 12, 201412 yr If this happens, they are basically saying that D. Wade is done as a starter/full time player. I have wondered that or if it would be Wade restructuring and Bosh going elsewhere to "star" on his own. Stephen A. yesterday said if LeBron and Melo opt-in for this coming season, he puts the odds at 90% they team up after the summer of 2015.
June 12, 201412 yr I've never been a Melo fan, so I hope he goes to some team I don't like...maybe the Clippers or stays where he is at. Rondo would be a great get for Miami if he understood his place on the team before he got there.
June 12, 201412 yr Wouldn't LBJ play the 1 on that team? My guess is LBJ, Wade and Melo would all get a lot of time to rest during the season.
June 12, 201412 yr After thinking about it a little more, I think the Heat would be better served to go after a guy like a Marcin Gortat, a Greg Monroe, or a Enes Kanter/Derrick Favors. The thing they need most is a banger. Side note: Clearly Melo is better than any of them, but I feel they fill a huge void on Miami, where Melo doesn't really fit in.
June 12, 201412 yr You just get talent and let it all figure itself out. While Melo is not a great defender, he does solve what has been Miami's biggest problem of late....Production when LeBron isn't playing. Though a big guy is a huge void, Miami has been massacred late when LeBron isn't on the floor. Wade cannot consistently score and Bosh is only good if he has his shot rolling or is attacking the basket often.

LeBron and his style make him almost too good for his own good if that makes any sense.
June 12, 201412 yr On the salary side of this, D. Wade is the person who needs to sacrifice. He has his money. He has everyone coming to his team. He can't play a full season and is clearly on the downside of his effectiveness and value to the team. Getting Wade to accept less is the biggest obstacle to making this happen IMO. The second biggest obstacle is getting Melo to take less. Zero income tax in Florida helps make this possible.
June 12, 201412 yr I'm all for it. I'd love to see it happen just to see what happens. That's a lot of talent. I also agree that Wade should take the biggestpay cut since he is only playing half the season now.
June 12, 201412 yr I'd think this won't make the union too happy if they all take pay cuts? You're probably right.
June 13, 201412 yr Scoring isn't the problem in Miami, defending is. Melo will only magnify that problem.
June 13, 201412 yr Melo would leave about $70M on the table if he went to the Heat. La La won't let that happen. Is that with Wade making the vet minimum? He doesn't deserve more than that.
June 13, 201412 yr Combined city and state top income tax rates if he stays in NY are around 13%+ FWIW Melo IMO would be a horrible fit for the Heat... Heat need a 1 and an athletic 5
June 14, 201412 yr Combined city and state top incovme tax rates if he stays in NY are around 13%+ . FWIW Melo IMO would be a horrible fit for the Heat... Heat need a 1 and an athletic 5 As someone else mentioned dont be surprised if they move james to the point basically if they got melo.
