Trinity (Louisville) 2014/2015

Featured Replies

Wow. I remember taking a lot of heat from Rocks supporters last season about how Trinity was above things like this' date=' how it wasn't something that defined their program. Wonder if the backlash would be as strong if I made those same statements now.[/quote']

First of all, most of us know nothing about what circumstances are bringing him here. There are already kids from all areas of even Louisville at Trinity, many not even on sports teams. Shouldn't the criticism be leveled because of verifiable information rather than speculation?

I agree - I hope someone associated with Trinity will share accurate information about this transfer and how he arrived at Trinity.

Well, it won't be me, as I have no sources for that.

I'm not even sure why it even matters. Shame on Trinity because a kid moved from Mississippi to Louisville and chose Trinity? Seriously? I think a better question is why wouldn't he want to go Trinity?

Team AAU ball on Sunday at PRP:

1000: Trinity versus LexCath

1345: Trinity versus CovCath

Wow, would love to see those games!

Yes being a coach what is Szabo supposed to do??? Turn him down so he can go to Ballard? Not sure what the circumstances are but I seriously doubt they drove down to Provine and recruited him. Where would you send your child if he played basketball and you moved to the Louisville area. I would definitely think Trinity would be at the top of most people's list, but I am way on the outside looking in. Good post Purple.

Good post Purple and good post Game. Exactly...why wouldn't you want to come to Trinity? Top level academics and top level athletics.

I don't think it matters at all. I'm one of the people who was taking up for Cordia more often than not last year.

I just think that with moves like this, Trinity doesn't have any more of a defense than Scott County with Long, and people were going nuts over that.

Last year, I thought I took some heat over fair statements about Trinity, and these kind of moves are just further proof of what I was trying to say.

Look at your same statement and replace 'Trinity' with 'Scott County', 'Mississippi' with 'North Carolina' and 'Louisville' with 'Georgetown'. Oh yea... Long was rumored to have been "considering" Trinity last season anyway, so that's not much of a jump.

It seems like when a good athlete comes to Trinity, it has to be because of the great education, reputation, etc. and never just because they have a great athletics program as well. Let's call it is what it is.

Blah blah blah blah. Trinity who? Blah blah blah. Ray Spalding 2014 Mr. Basketball is all I care about.

I always call it like it is. Again...if anyone moved into Louisville with an athletic kid why wouldn't Trinity be their #1 choice?

If someone with a son who is a very good basketball player moved into Louisville and asked me where his son should consider going to high school, Trinity definitely would be a school I would recommend he consider. But there have been enough stories (some substantiated, some not) of how players have ended up (or almost ended up) at Trinity that it always will be suspicious when a very good player all of a sudden turns up at Trinity. I hope this is an example of someone moving into Louisville and picking Trinity as their school based on all relevant factors, one of which is the basketball program. I also hope we will find out if that in fact is what happened.

The thing with Trinity is they focus so much on defense the kids offense suffers... They have a lot of offense weapons but if the kid is not focused on defense first, he won't get time on the floor.. Outside of Spaulding, Levitch & Stafford are their best offensive weapons against great teams.

I know you do, and there wasn't anyone in particular I was meaning when I was talking about the comments. It just seemed like I got a lot of general heat last year for "calling out" Trinity, but this is the second year in a row when they've at least been a player in the sweepstakes for a very talented out of state transfer. I'm starting to see a pattern and it isn't confined to the city of Louisville.

Trinity is playing the big kid's game now, so I'm not going to be very sympathetic to the arguments of supporters if they play the "we're a private and everyone hates on us, but look at a school like Ballard and find out how many kids actually grew up in their district" argument that you'll inevitably hear each winter.

I don't really care if Trinity goes to another continent and gets a team full of players who end up playing D1, but I don't want hear them play their sad song and fiddle about their perception and how other schools are just as bad or worse, yet don't receive the kind of criticism they do.
