I wish more of the rebuilding programs would stick it to the "man" and drop out to be independent and build their programs with schedules how they see fit. If 25-30 of the teams that are really struggling right now would just do this and play each other then the 6 class system would implode on itself.

What district will Bath and West Carter be in?

 

I seen that Magoffin County will join District 7: Breathitt, Estill, Knott, Morgan and Powell

 

They will be in with Fleming, Lewis, Pendleton and Russell.

Are you kidding me DD, they would just drop out of district play to not have to play Highlands. They were in that district before, no they did not win but they at least played, don't like the message this is sending. They could always ask to move toward Louisville since they were playing there before.

 

Seemed to work when Pendleton Co did it, with no real complaints, why not now. BTW being in that district almost killed Grants Program that they are barely, and I mean just barely starting to recover from it. Being back in that district could kill the program entirely.

It sounds like, with so many teams trying to get away from power house programs, that this thought is a possibility. And, I agree, that would probably fix the six class system.

Not only did they screw up by granting requests to move up or down- then they compounded it by then letting teams petition a move after the first draft.

I am still trying to figure out what was the reasoning behind Highlands and CCH moving to 5a.

 

Technically, CCH is a 5A school. For some reason the KHSAA went back four years on average enrollment vs two years which has been the case the past couple realignments. Using two year averages puts them in 5A and four years from now, their enrollment may be in the upper portion of 5A. That one I get to a degree.

According to Jason Frakes they reversed the Webster County/Todd County Central decision. Which personally I think it was way off base for them to even consider it. Webster County is closer to every single school in District 1.

He later clarified that Webster and Todd would flip back from that photo. But otherwise correct.

That's only 3 games. What about the other 7? At least they'll make the playoffs. How will that district kill the program?

I don't see how it almost killed their program. They moved districts after a realignment and as far back as the KHSAA website lets you go they appear to have won, during that time period is their only recorded winning seasons . They also are just leaving a district without Highlands, Cov. Cath. etc where they gave up just as many points to Conner, Cooper and Scott as they did with playing in the Highland district. Play where you are supposed to play. I would think an extra week every year to practice for the playoffs would help them build their program. Has it or did it really benefit Pendleton Co.? They started their program in non-district, went to district, then back to non-district, not sure if that is beneficial. JMO

Re-evaluate what? If 3 must play 4 and 5 must play 6 in the best interests of 5A and 6A football?
