Linked above are the changes made by the KHSAA to the original draft. I've tried to sum up.

 

Change Class

-Bath County and West Carter approved to play up from 2A to 3A

-Shelby County will stay in 4A-District 4

 

-Shawnee denied request to play down to 1A

-North Hardin denied request to play down to 5A

 

Geographic Requests

-Berea and Hazard approved to switch 1A districts, although unclear which district they will move to

 

District Changes

-Webster County and Todd County Central will switch 2A districts

-Henry County moved from 3A-District 4 to District 3

-Magoffin County moved from 3A-District 6 to District 7

-Whitley County moved to 5A-District 8

 

-Jackson County denied request to switch districts

-Madison Southern denied request to switch districts

-Fairdale denied request to switch districts

Sheldon Clark was denied their appeal to drop to 2A

I doubt anyone will. That 2A District will have four teams, which is all that is required.

Berea not allowed to change 1A districts I don't guess? Shocker right there.

I do not see where they ruled on Grant County's request to move up to 6a. Grant County said if they could not move up they would play as an independent. That will leave Highlands, Dixie, and CovCath in a three team district.

Any word on the 6a playoff bracketing ?

Are you kidding me DD, they would just drop out of district play to not have to play Highlands. They were in that district before, no they did not win but they at least played, don't like the message this is sending. They could always ask to move toward Louisville since they were playing there before.

I am still trying to figure out what was the reasoning behind Highlands and CCH moving to 5a.

I seen that Magoffin County will join District 7: Breathitt, Estill, Knott, Morgan and Powell

To paraphrase Pulp Fiction: That's what going to bring this stuff to a head.

 

We have teams jockeying to get away from other teams, we have teams wanting to play up, teams wanting to play down, teams wanting to pick their district, teams wanted to play in other districts. Why not just pick names out of a hat? Who belongs where? Who is really in the proper class? Are teams really moving down?

 

What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?

Just heard that the final realignment will be out later today.
