Evan Slone (Ludlow) suffered a serious injury last night in Columbus, Ohio. He was pitching and had a line drive hit back at him off his face... Similar to Aroldis Chapman earlier this season.

Reports are that he has 2 fractures below the right eye. Let's all keep him in our thoughts!

Sorry to hear about Evan's injury. Hopefully, All goes well in his recovery and Evan can get back out and do what he enjoys! He will be in our prayers and thoughts.

I'm going to go off the radar and take 2 Dark Horses.

Verst has the work ethic, heart and desire to get better, which I feel will be hard to keep him out of this discussion come next year.

Friend also has the work ethic and a father that played D1 baseball that knows what it takes and I feel he will also be in the discussions come next year.

 

Keep an eye on both of these boys.

Nice job Kyle. Looks like his velocity has gained a little, he was around 77-78 this time last year.

For those wondering like I was, this is only for unsigned underclassmen. That's why you don't see the two boys from BW.

Yeah, heard he has 2 fractures under the eye, but they won't need surgery. He was suppose to pitch in the Underclass games...but hasn't been cleared by docs to be on the mound just yet. He's apparently cleared to play SS and hit, etc. Sounds like he's been recovering quickly, lucky kid!

I'll out myself as his parent, it doesn't matter to me..........

 

He was pitching and a line drive was ripped right back at him. He got his glove up and deflected the ball somewhat, but still took a big hit to his face. As a parent of a kid who pitches, it was one of my worries. He was taken by ambulance to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. The next day, we transferred him to Cincinnati Children's.

 

Even with all of the injuries listed above---he's okay. His noggin is okay (as okay as it can get for a just-turned-16 yo boy :-)), the stitches have come out, orbital bones are healing, if surgery is necessary it wouldn't be until this fall/winter, he's going to have some nice looking scars, but that is about it. His vision is returning in his right eye (he had major vision loss and double vision immediately following the injury). In fact, he was cleared today by both plastic surgery and ophthalmology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital to start playing baseball again.

 

He's a lucky kid. As a parent, I was really touched by the support we received from parts of the NKY baseball community.

You won't see those two involved in PBR events anymore, unless they should open their commits back up. I would like to give a big shout out to Brett Slusher, who was named to represent Kentucky in the PBR Futures games. Brett is the only Northern KY player on the team this year. This is the grand daddy of all that PBR does, at least for the underclassmen. They choose their teams from all the showcases attendees throughout the year, and is a great accomplishment. Made up of what PBR considers the very best 2016 and a select few 2017 kids. I know both BW commits were invited last year, the only two 2016 kids to earn the invite. This is a great event, combines showcase activities with games. Not sure of the schedule, but I think each team with play at least three games vs another state, last year Team Kentucky went 0-3 vs Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Congrats Brett.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all of PBR's events are for unsigned kids only. Although verbal commitment does not mean signed. The BW kids and/or schools can still back out of a verbal commitment at anytime.
