THawks get the 4-1 W over a great SGV Arsenal team from San Gabriel, CA. Big Nick Bennet goes 6 2/3 and gets 10ks for the W. Stringer 2-3 with that huge hit to break open a 1-0 game in bottom of 6th, and eventually scored on Slushers Sac Fly. THawks lineup today by schools committed went Texas, Oregon, Louisville (Stringer), USC/UCLA recruit, Ga Tech (Chase Murray from CHCA), UK (Combs), and Michigan, in that order, 1-7. Follow those with two future D1 kids in Slusher and Moe's Alec Graves. That's pretty solid. SGV had some big timers too, lefty starter was up to 89 on gun. Good baseball game. Play Frozen Ropes, another power house, tomorrow. Will roll out UK commit Dion Henderson, another big lefty who is consistently over 90.

Per PBR twitter, just committed to louisville. Man, Cards are the hot ticket right now among baseball players in this state. Thats 4 of top.10 in 16 class, and only 5 have committed. Very similar in 15 class. Planck will probably jump a few spots after touchng 91

So far this is all I've seen about NKY 2016 kids from the PBR Underclass Games. Understandable as I know PBR has a lot of events and a lot of kids to evaluate...

 

Drew Borman, OF/RHP, Conner HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect uses short arm action through a ¾ arm slot to produce a 76-78 mph fastball that shows occasional slight arm-side run and sink, struggled some early with command but got better as outing progressed, did not see any secondary pitches in his outing.

Evan Slone, SS, L/R, Ludlow HS, 2016

Slone is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound prospect who ran a 7.50 60-yard dash and registered a 74 mph exit velocity off the tee (78 at previous event), hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, line drive type hitter who shows the ability to use all fields. Defensively, he shows playable hands and gets rid of the baseball with short arm action, showed an increase in velocity across the infield at 72 mph (69 at previous event). Slone went 1-for-4 in game action with a single to left-center.

 

Drew Borman, OF/RHP, R/R, Conner HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect ran a 7.53 60-yard dash and registered 81 mph tee exit velocity, hits from a balanced stance with a short stride with a long/uphill swing path. Defensively, plays through the baseball in the outfield with a clean exchange and showed 79 mph arm strength using short arm action, went 1-for-4 in game play with a single to left field.

 

Not a bad showing for these guys... Good job Borman!

And considering Slone was in the ER 10 days before this event with fractures and stitches around his eye... He did really well it seems.

Latest PBR rankings. As expected, Planck from Rowan County with jump to #1 after touching 91.

In overall, Stringer 41, #1 rated OF. Combs 53, #1 rated 1b. As you would imagine, rankings dominated by catchers, pitchers and MIF. These were only NKY kids rated in overall.

You have to remember what these rankings are based on, which is radar guns ansd stop watches. They are ranking projectibility, not their current state as a HS player. In a world where 80 mph is alnost a bare minimum, he threw 82-83. As his velo moves up, which it will, so will his ranking. Exit velos of 90, 60 times of 7 or better, and fastballs at 87-88 are what gets you on this list, not gaudy stats.

Totally agree... And a player's heart, work ethic, desire, intelligence and attitude are nearly impossible to "measure". So, there could be several kids that will never be mentioned on a list like this that will end up playing at a higher level than most believed possible. I've seen that many times over the years.

Hopefully, some of these kids will attend a PBR SC. I think PBR does an excellent job of promoting players who attend their SC.

Absolutely, PBR is awesome. These days, if kids don't attend some showcases and/or don't play for a solid summer team...they can really fall behind in the recruiting game.

Of course. They promote those that attend their events. Perfect Game is no different. College coaches dont get outto many HS games, and I can assure you they pay attention to PBR and PG. Cannot stress enough the impprtance of getting out to these, as well as getting on a summer team that coaches come to see. If a kid is on a team that nobody watches, that doesnt bode well. Im a Midland homer, but there are plenty good teams that know how to get coaches to show up.
