I know these players are not from NKY but Easton McGee (think it is Hopkinsville) and Jacob Abbott (Lafayette) are probably two of the best players in the state.

 

Per PBR, the #1 and #3 player in class. I've watched Easton pitch for a long time, has figured out how to pitch to match velocity he has always had.

Safe to assume the ones with high major commitments would get the invite.

I only know the first three on that list, but will go out on a limb and say they are shoe ins. Whether they will play will depend on when the event is, and where the Tomahawks are that weekend. No way they play if it requires them to miss any time with them.

There's actually been a lot of talk in the area this season about the other kids on the list as well. That is why I started this thread. I don't know about the rest of Kentucky... But in NKY, there are more productive Sophomore varsity baseball players than I can ever remember. And when I say that, I mean from multiple schools.

So, just saying it'll be interesting to see if NKY is well represented in that All Star game or not. They should be whether the tomahawk kids can go or not.

Since I've seen a lot of stats floating around several threads... I thought it might be a good time to show some of the most up to date stats I could find on some of these Varsity Sophomores... Keep in mind, not all schools post stats (couldn't find Dixie or Bellevue) and for some reason, Beechwood hasn't posted pitching stats. But these are the ones I could find. No one was left off intentionally. If you don't see a kid, their team didn't list stats or I simply missed them. I searched hitting by batting average and pitching by wins... So the kids are listed in that order.

Braydon Combs - 80AB , 23 runs, 40 hits, 12 2b, 0 3b, 4 hr, 29 RBI, 3 sb, .524 obp, .500 avg

 

Brett Slusher- 60 AB, 23 runs, 29 hits, 6 2b, 3 3b, 1 hr, 22 RBI, 17 sb, .551 obp, .483 avg

 

Will Heppler - 90 AB, 17 runs, 40 hits, 4 2b, 0 3b, 0 hr, 24 RBI, 0 sb, .505 obp, .444 avg

Agreed. These stats look similar to what they had around the beginning of the All A finals weekend. Maybe a .75 for Ethan since they did credit him with a triple? Yes, Brayden's absence on the bump could loom larger. I would agree.

Yeah, I just pulled these up today... So no idea when some of these were last updated. Impressive still though, because I know in Slone's case, he's batting third in the line up. And I think all the BW sophs are batting in the top 4 of the order somewhere. Not sure where Heppler bats... But anyhow, for young kids at the varsity level.... Most of them are in premier spots of the batting order (being pitched around in many cases) and still are very productive. All these kids have bright futures IMO.

Good research Footmaster. These kids look like they are getting it done. I have watched several of the BW kids and they can hit the ball. My son played last summer w/ Purnell. I have seen some nice defensive games at SS for him and when he gets on the mound, he gets it done. I try to follow the kids I know. I'm not sure of Purnell's Batting avg, but I know he has 3 wins and a couple of saves against some quality teams. He has wins against district Cooper and Conner and saves against Ryle and Harrison Co. He has been the closer behind Ganns this season and has proved to be a good combo for Boone. I haven't got a chance to see Sloan or Heppler, but their stats say they also have been going strong. Where do all of these sophomores play summer ball. I know the 3 BW kids play for Midland and Purnell plays for the Bluegrass. Nice to know who they play for in the summer. Always ready to watch some summer ball. Hate to hear about Combs, he has always been fun to watch, esp when he was younger and he looked like a man playing with kids.

And LaSalle players. Coaches are from LaSalle and Summit Country Day.

Yeah, BW kids play for midland...I think one might play for flames as well. Purnell is with bluegrass. Slone is with the Astros... Not sure who Heppler plays with in summer.

Very interested to see how some of these sophomores perform in the tourney games this week... A Little added pressure on these young guys.
