Is the pitcher that relieved against Conner last week?

 

Yes, he was the reliever against Conner and Cooper, picked up both wins. He has also been leading the Rebels in reg season batting avg this season.

Yeah, a lot of these kids are either so big and/so good that I think I'm watching a senior... And then someone will say "oh no, he's a sophomore"... Lol!

It's crazy, but it's also good for NKY baseball. Future looks bright for a lot of teams... Including teams that aren't historically loaded with talent like Ludlow and Bellevue.

I actually won a bet, albeit a soft drink, from an opposing grandparent last year that Combs was a Freshman. She was claiming he was held back a year or two. She actually asked someone to verify who was correct on the wager.

Haha! Yeah, I was at the Florence Freedom All A games and Combs is a big kid! I know Slone from Ludlow is only 15 and someone (I think it was a Ludlow parent) told me Combs is that young too. Stringer looked big for a young kid too.

Not sure about Combs, Slusher and Fieger. I probably am stoking the fire here for some SK folks but I believe Stringer transferred over to BW before his Freshman year.

I am pretty sure Stringer and Combs played for Midland 14u during the Spring..

These guys have been at jv but could be very productive at varsity level:

I'm know for a fact that Ethan Stringer is a legit Sophomore, no holdbacks. He went to Twenhofel in 7th and 8th grade, and never played with SK...he just played with the Tomahawks those years, and was definitely good enough to have played varsity with SK as an 8th grader, but never had any intention of going there. I'm also almost certain that Combs is legit too, as my oldest son, who is a Junior, played football with him in Boone County, and was a year ahead of him.

Combs is actually very young, just turned 16. Man's body,baby's face. Both of them played for Midland in the summer of their 8th grade year, who knows if either could have played varsity at their respective schools, but I would think so. These are not cases of the big hairy kid outplaying all his pre-pubescent bros. They do it at high levels, and both have had no issues competing at the varsity level since day 1. Brayden moved to BW district in 6th grade, Ethan is a tuition kid that still lives in the Scott district, that was never an option is what I have learned on here over the years. Been beaten to death.Neither have ever been held back, just good genetics (both dads are huge) and god given talent.

Who are some of the best sophomores in NKY we all should be looking out for?

2. Seiter (Bellevue)

3. Evan Slone (Ludlow)

4. Griffin Smallwood (Dixie)

5. Rick Raisor (Highlands)

 

These are some of the kids I've seen and recognize as clearly talented baseball players with a bright future.

A friend of mine said he saw Slone (Ludlow) and Scott (Simon Kenton) on the same team in a tourney game last year. Not sure what team it was or which tourney... But he said Slone and Scott could both really hit.

I've since seen Slone several times, yet to see Scott though.

I know Seiter has something like a 1.31 ERA, and a 5-2 record. Not bad considering he has starts against Pendelton Co. (who can really hit), CovCath, NCC, and Lloyd (who is no slouch hitting).

 

Had he not been on the wrong end of a costly error, and clearly erroneous call in the CovCath game he doesn't give up the 5 runs that he did there!

 

Kid can really pitch! I truly mean the word pitch too. He has to work in and out, up and down because he may not even break a window if he crow hopped and threw with all he had. Just makes his stats that much more impressive in my opinion.
