Who are some of the best sophomores in NKY we all should be looking out for?

 

My short list includes:

 

1. The Beechwood gang (ofcourse)

2. Seiter (Bellevue)

3. Evan Slone (Ludlow)

4. Griffin Smallwood (Dixie)

5. Rick Raisor (Highlands)

 

These are some of the kids I've seen and recognize as clearly talented baseball players with a bright future.

 

Who else should be on this list?

 

The Beechwood Sophomore Gang:

Bankemper-getting starts in outfield and quality at bats for varsity.

Combs-varsity starter since 9th grade, played for Midland only as an 8th Grader.

Fieger-varsity starter, played jv as an 8th grader.

Rowe-getting playing time at 1st and 3rd and coming off bench with some clutch

pinch hits.

Slusher-varsity starter since 9th grade, played in a couple varsity games as a 8th grader.

Stringer-varsity starter since 9th grade, played for Midland only as an 8th grader.

I know Seiter has something like a 1.31 ERA, and a 5-2 record. Not bad considering he has starts against Pendelton Co. (who can really hit), CovCath, NCC, and Lloyd (who is no slouch hitting).

 

Had he not been on the wrong end of a costly error, and clearly erroneous call in the CovCath game he doesn't give up the 5 runs that he did there!

 

Kid can really pitch! I truly mean the word pitch too. He has to work in and out, up and down because he may not even break a window if he crow hopped and threw with all he had. Just makes his stats that much more impressive in my opinion.

 

Someone told me Seiter played Varsity baseball in 6th grade! Anyone know if that's true?

I know many of the Beechwood kids started Varsity young... And I know Slone has been an everyday Varsity starter for Ludlow since the 8th grade and was probably their best JV player in 7th grade...

But 6th grade sounds crazy to me... Lol!

Looks like Beechwood and Conner are loaded with good young players...

Seiter threw in the 6th grade, but he went to Silver Grove then. No offense to the Grove, but he kind of HAD to pitch. He probably was their best option however, even as a 6th grader. They didn't have the numbers to give him JV time, and allow him to develop the slow way.

 

He wouldn't have thrown varsity as a 6th grade at Bellevue. It did wonders for his demeanor on the mound through. He has so much experience, and has seen it all. He fears no one.

Yes, he did pitch for Varsity in the 6th grade, it was for Silver Grove. I believe he transferred after his 7th grade season.

One good place this summer to watch some of the best sophomores is Meyerhoff's Bluegrass Lions. Looks to have another strong team.

We've gone from less than 10 kids mentioned to 25 or more in just a day's time... Pretty impressive. And I know there are many more. NKY is loaded with sophomore talent, more than I can remember in many years.

Kori has gotten bigger the last few years, great kid.

Any sophomores to watch from Holmes or Dayton or any other schools who haven't been mentioned?

I would add Hunter Turner from Cooper

Some players from my list would be the 5 beechwood boys(Combs ,Stringer, Slusher, Fieger, and Bankemper)

Jeffrey Purnell(Boone) Tremendous ball player.

Smallwood(Dixie)

2 Bellevue boys in Briley Seiter, and Brady Hayes. Ive heard nothing but good about seiters pitching, and saw Hayes play a few games in summer ball with the Bluegrass Lions.

I would also throw in Evan Slone, Raisor, Embs, and Turner from Cooper is having a great season.
