God loves them as much as He does me.

I agree! Looks like I have to add someone to my prayers tonight! Again! WOW! I don't care who it is or what they did, I would never wish death on someone! It's not my place to decide. Sad, sad really.

It amazes me that there are still people that don't see serious drug abuse (aka as druggies, I guess is the word some use) is a SICKNESS! If someone is sick do we just wish and hope them to die? The problem with some hard drugs, Iike heroin, is that you only have to try it once, and you are hooked "chasing the dragon".

I carry a couple of heroin recovery kits in my car as one place I work it's 85% college age kids! KIDS! Good kids! I guess some think people should just let these KIDS die? Good, kind, gentle, loving, people are among those with drug problems, including people hooked on such things as pain medications. No one should wish these people to die!

But as far as the article, as others have mentioned the key word is "young people", A LOT of things are not the best thing for young people, again, nothing new. Also, this is just one study!

It would be great if they did at least not have children. Even if their children are born healthy, they all too often make lousy parents. If you ask enough teachers, they will tell you that many of the students who have problems, physical, emotionally, mentally, have parents who major drug users.

Their parents spend their money on drugs, not food, clothing or health care. They are to stoned to take an interest in their own kids, they do not read to them or just play with them or show them love. I am quite sure there will be those who disagree with this, but sadly it is all too true.

I am tired of excuses, an illness is something that you do not chose. Drugs are a choice. A decision was made to use something to that has the ability to destroy you. Yes good people make the bad decision of drug use and it can hook someone quickly.

And I do not need a study to me show me the harmful effects, I have seen too many friends, relatives and former students destroy theirselves.

I am tired of excuses' date=' an illness is something that you do not chose. Drugs are a choice. [/quote'] No excuses, but they get caught up in the junk (the hard stuff) and can't get out of the loop, as the withdraws are very real and very painful, they are stuck, and as with heroin, they are always trying to chase the feeling of the first time they used it, chasing the dragon.
And I do not need a study to me show me the harmful effects' date=' I have seen too many friends, relatives and former students destroy theirselves.[/quote'] I too have seem people's lives ruined. And as with good people comment, I'm sure you would say that then people you know who were destroyed, they too were most likely good people and some had very bright futures. I'd say if it wasn't for the withdraws, if there was some medication to get them from feeling the withdraws they would be more than happy to kick the habit. As was mentioned earlier, some have horrible home lives and that puts some at a higher risk, one person I know have parents that are still hooked on the junk, father had always been on heroin, and the mother has always been hooked on crack, and she was on crack when she was pregnant with my friend. In his case, the parents, more so the mother, was the cause of a lot of his drug issues now.
Key words in this.....'young' people.

I don't think anyone has ever said marijuana isn't harmful. Even if it was legal I can't imagine any adult allowing their kid to start smoking it.

Marijuana is just as harmful to young people as alcohol is.

This isn't breaking news.

Defined Young as 18-25 years old in the story not kids getting baked with their parents at 14.

Is this from your extensive study of addiction theory or just an opinion that you pulled out of the blue ? Granted the ingestion of the chemical is an active choice, no one disputes that, but the jury is still out about the motivation of the ingestion….same as people who are obese or homosexual for that matter…lots of theories, most unproven, but I guess that's what makes the world go 'round.

Doesn't change my stance. The legal age to drink alcohol is 21. Is it suddenly not harmful just because you turned 21?

Heroin and other opiates now claim more lives than violent crimes and car accidents.

My brain turned out okay.

As far as I know.

Same.

As far as I know also.

Well there's no need for further study, we have first hand proof the study was spot on.

No I agree,it's just seemed like you thought this study was talking about younger kids.

But we all should be allowed to destroy our brains and become less productive members of society' date=' cuz we want too![/quote']

In the long term it can't be any worse than watch Jerry Bruckheimer movies regularly.
