Lets say someone turns 30 today and has never smoked pot. What are the chances he/she starts now do you think? I believe for cigs the age was 19...if someone had not started smoking by then there was very very little chance if them starting after that point. A big reason smoking adds were aimed at young people at one time.

 

You are absolutely right. The legal age to smoke weed should be 21 just like it is to have a beer. We agree.

Drugs are bad, mmmmkay!

It amazes me that there are still people that don't see serious drug abuse (aka as druggies, I guess is the word some use) is a SICKNESS! If someone is sick do we just wish and hope them to die? The problem with some hard drugs, Iike heroin, is that you only have to try it once, and you are hooked "chasing the dragon".

 

I carry a couple of heroin recovery kits in my car as one place I work it's 85% college age kids! KIDS! Good kids! I guess some think people should just let these KIDS die? Good, kind, gentle, loving, people are among those with drug problems, including people hooked on such things as pain medications. No one should wish these people to die!

 

But as far as the article, as others have mentioned the key word is "young people", A LOT of things are not the best thing for young people, again, nothing new. Also, this is just one study!

I agree with the things you said, but one of the problems we have as a society, and it goes on here on BGP is when kids and others hear people who are supposed to be considered as intelligent adults as promoting the use of marijuana.

 

When people continue to clam there are no ill effects of smoking pot, what kind of message does that send to our children?

 

We've had several topics on BGP alone about legalizing Marijuana etc. and young people also read these topics on here. What knd of message does it send to a 12 year old who may be getting peer pressure to smoke and then they read their parents or parents friends or their friends parents on here stating they have no problem with it and claim there are no ill effects to smoking it even though there is.

 

It is not right to wish all drug users to die, but it also isn't right for the people kids are taught to listen to tell there is nothing wrong with smoking the stuff.
